Also my wife used bkool yesterday for the first time and may continue trying it so if you see really slow times it'll be her (honest!)

When my missus uses my bkool account I just discard the session at the end, she's not really bothered about recording it. Can always record it on a garmin and load it to her garmin connect!

Once again, it would be useful to be able to delete things on bkool!

P.S. Have to change my weight before and after she uses it, not really fair to expect her to lug my weight up all the hills! Always tempted to leave it for the next Goat's ride, would help me get closer to you lot!

Good point about the weight. Was going to keep her to flat courses so hopefully it'll be ok for her. She has no previous bike experience part from family rides for a few miles and on the tandem 10 or 12 times for up to 20 miles. Be great if she keeps at it!

A couple of trains at suitable paces should shorten the session for everyone involved.
I'm going to aim for around 20 mph average (1 hour 30 - 1 hour 40 mins) if I can, so if anyone wants to share the load, I'm happy to work together to up our averages! :hugs:

I would say that either of the two longer climbs will give plenty of opportunity to race, especially the latter one!

Sharing the load for the first hour or so should hopefully leave some legs for these climbs!

Darn, don't think i can join in tonight. Hit the back of a car on my commute in at a little over 23mph. I was overtaking a slow moving bus which then suddenly indicated it would pull out of the bus lane. It didn't but in the moment i looked across at the driver to get his attention and then looking back the car in front of me slowed abruptly, i looked forward, saw this and braked (thank god for discs!) and crashed into the back. I think the car actually began to move for ward again as i did because the impact was less than i expected. All pretty dramatic but bar elbow and leg scrapes and torn bibs I came out of it ok. I am beginning to feel very sore though! will make a judgement call later. If i cannot then i may roar on encouragement

Not 100% sure my legs are recovered from Mondays effort but no knowing me I'll give it a go again.
Anyone else lining up who I could team up with (Geoff - you're too fast! :cycle:)

PS: I've just started using a HRM and notice that my average heart rate is way below the fitter guys. Is that because my legs are the weak link at the minute?

Yes. This will be the case. When your legs are tired your heart rate is much lower and you sweat much less.

Interval sessions are your friend, get the HR high and the legs are burning then let it drop and recover, repeat until you can do no more, but give yourself a max time limit like 30 minutes. I find the velodrome useful for this type of work as you can do one hot lap, a couple of recovery laps and repeat.

So who's up for the big one tonight?

I see Randy has already logged a good one! :okay:

I'm maybe targeting an FTP type session plus after the goat ride last night I don't think I could do 50km again and improve my time. I'll be keeping a close eye on the times though, shouting abuse from the side lines and throwing tacks on the road to slow you all down!

Thanks Kip.

Have read about interval training in the past but it just sounded quite tedious so never really had the heart to try it. Feel now that I need to get some structure to my training to improve so will have to incorporate some.

as a newbie, what's the process in joining the training planned for this evening.
Geoff starts the warm up at 7pm and let's it run for about 7-8 minutes to allow others to gather in. You'll find it on the 'live' tab and it'll mention the cyclechat league under the route name.
