Have you found the Cyclechat leagues yet? Geoff (Gbrown) on here organizes the Cyclechat Chain Gang for Thursday evenings and Bill organises the Mountain Goats league.

As many of us as possible meet at 7pm Thursdays with a re-run for those who couldnt make it on Saturdays at 5pm.

I have requested to join the group... already recognise some names which is great.

When it comes to League runs there are tactical advantages to making an early run.

I think only the very confident can afford to use last minute tactics

Or just be happy with finishing the climb.

I'm not competitive in the goat league, other than with myself. I am more able to compete in the Chain Gang, but the thought of doing the 50km ride again just isn't there, unless you, Adam(1) or anyone else destroys my time and I might have to do something to save my blushes.

Try this every week - something always goes wrong. Last week a firmware upgrade this week my front mech twisted and jammed after 10 minutes.

Quick update, I persevered with the firmware update last night and eventually succeeded...

Took the unit away from the trainer and put right next to the laptop, didn't work straight took several attempts but got there eventually.

Didn't really have the legs for it but did Los Olmos tonight, down to Active 1, might try an FTP test tomorrow to try and get back to Active 2 or try for Active 3.

How do you get downgraded? I haven't put an average power run in to match my rating for ages, but never been dropped an Active banding?

And it's not confidence that is preventing me from getting a Goats run in, it is time! Mother-in-law has thrown a hand grenade in the works, by trying to top herself, so the Mrs is driving several hours a day to and from hospital, on top of work, on top of Iron man training. Trying to keep all the balls in the air and struggling tbh.
Just managing little runs in between dramas!
But still optimistic about getting a Goats time submitted, and have made gentle hints about the thursday run, but can't be too pushy.

Hope I didn't kill the thread with my rather depressing revelation! Wasn't my intention. And don't worry folks, she'll be fine....well as fine as she was before! As Mother-in-laws go, I really did get pick of the litter!
With a bit of luck though, normal service will soon be resumed. Looking forward to this weekend too, weather is supposed to be gorgeous, might be my bikes first peep at tarmac, but it will have to be seriously nice to tempt me off the turbo.

Sounds like a rough time, hope it all gets sorted soon for you and your wife.

I got dropped from amateur 5 to 4 a couple of weeks ago! Keep doing the wrong sort of rides to get a good constant wattage

Also my wife used bkool yesterday for the first time and may continue trying it so if you see really slow times it'll be her (honest!)

New goats league about to start next week so getting a time in for this one not a big deal.
