Cycle paths are just a verge between roads and paths and seem to be fair game to to users of either.
Integrating decent cycle paths into an already dense habitat is almost impossible.
The other difficult thing is teaching old dogs new tricks.
For years in Europe cycle paths have had priority over turning traffic which enables cyclist an almost stop free journey.
If you tried that in the UK it would be like pub all day opening, utter chaos and people laying half dead all over the place all day long.

Totally agree about teaching old dogs new tricks. It could mean accepting whatever change is created is only truly accepted by future generations. But slow progress is better than no progress at all!

I could paraphrase loads from a book I read recently:

It's a bit stat heavy but it's very well thought out and I'd highly recommend it.

I went to some training in southeastern Netherlands and the first day there had no clue about the cycling paths. One of another non European students walked across it and got nailed by a heavy Dutch bike that sent him flying.
I had a similar experience when on my motorbike in Arnhem. Coming up to a roundabout and this scooter shot across the junction, whilst in the cycle lane (they are permitted), just in front of me, at full chat for him,. T-shirt, shorts, flip flops and no crash helmet . Had we connected I shuddered at the mess he would have made xx(. There's priority and priority with no thought to consequences:headshake:. He didn't read the road and just assumed I'd stop like a good Dutch driver. I'm not Dutch .

My legs had had a good rest so felt strong. And the asthma meds are doing their thing so I had a storming ride. I was puffing a bit after 10 mins and didn't know if I was able to hold on, but once I got over that I was good to the end. Need to try a similar run for a 60 minute ride - that would be a massive improvement!

My tyre pressure was at 95 psi too, thanks to @CXRAndy , rather than the flat 45 psi that it was on when I got to the DD .... that probably helped too  Reminds me, I must get myself a good track pump

Get a Jo Blow from Halfords.
One of the best things they sell in their cycle shops.
You won't loose it either as its so yellow.
140PSI goes in easy but you have to break the valve open first by pressing it in with your finger and letting a bit of air out first.
Breedon couldn't use one though because one second your bent down then your standing up.
It would bee like spinning around a broomstick for him.

I'm more into the Ladybird 'How it works' range.
I have learnt so much from them:

Sorry no, I was riding Bayerische Motoren Werke AG. I was also running a little late for that.

Suprised they let BMW's drive through Arnhem out of respect.

You should drive British like me, a 2007 Mini!

I took delivery of the PRO earlier in the week. Everything paired up ok and 3 months Premium subscription included.
Now for the Newbie questions that you have probably answered many times!.
What sort of gearing do you use? The few little 'easy' trial runs I have done i've found myself on the slightest of inclines really having to 'grind' it out and not really being able to get a flowing pedalling style. I appreciate it is a simulator and shall probably just have to adapt and get used to it. I may dig out an MTB cassette from the garage and start off using a really low gear on the inclines, as the sudden increase in resistance seems to catch me out and I lose all momentum.
I shall not become obsessed with any stats for a while as It is more about getting used to it for now.
So, any little tips on set up or tyres etc will be a great help.

I ment to mention, Ian Corroyer sends his regards.
Our careers have followed almost parallel paths all be it his has ended more elevated than mine.
He is now a Lot Col so I guess we are equal now that I'm a Mr.
We served together in Germany (Detmold), Yeovilton (3 BAS). He was in the Apache Project Team when I was working for Westlands on that Project and now I am on Wildcat he is with JHC at Yeovilton working with the Wildcat CAMO (Continuous Airworthiness Management Organisation).
Dick Paine has never been far away either as well as Kev Morton.
Kev left as an ASM and Dick as a Major.
There are a whole host of other ex REME Aviation that work or worked here as it's a natural elephants graveyard for Military Aviation leavers.
