I'm finishing up my "DD payment trip" as an unpaid camera assistant in the Yukon, (I haul all of my wife's heavy gear in payment for my bike tours.) even though I'm not going. Then a few days back home then Texas for some training. So I'll be out of the league until the 15th.

I did notice on stage 2 both you and Rob had higher watts. Maybe I surf the blue downhill more efficiently.
Could be ... I pushed a bit on the downhills to try and not lose too much time on that long descent.

Hi there

Thought I would pop in and see how things are going now when the DD is near (it is due late May, isn't it?) Who is going and who is not? Are your fitness peaking now?

I myself have had a disastrous season start. It's like health, weather, equipment failure and just bad luck all joined forces with the sole purpose of keeping me off the bike. It looks like things are finally turning for the better and I'm now desperately poinding miles into the legs.
Unfortunately I think it's a little too late for me to achieve my goal of qualifying for the TT world championships. On top of that, my new TT position has proven to be impossible to stay in for more than a few minutes, so had to adjust that too. I think some testing this weekend will give me a clearer picture about my chances in August.

As for Bkool, I got sick an tired of the inconsistency, and the lack of power meter support therefore forced me over to Zwift. Is that feature still missing in Bkool?

I hope you will post some DD tales and picures here after the big event....good luck all.

Good to see you on the mend. Join the cyclechat strava group. We will likely use this as a racing group when Zwift introduces closed races. I hope we will see some of the others here join us then.
Sorry to hear about your bike and other issues and fingers crossed you can pull it together. I cannot do the DD- have I told you about my knee^_^- so I will let the others tell you about that.

Hi LBH,. Bkool doesn't have external power meter support. Only trainers with built in PM
A few of us have migrated to Zwift, me included. Others are now using top end Tacx Neo trainers and thoroughly enjoying the experience on Zwift.
I do a few cat C races which suit my level, with me being able to place high up and have a real battle with others for an hour or more
You will have found there are always plenty of riders to race, train with. I like the limited routes, can compare performance over a period of time.

DD, There is a few of doing it over various distances

Yes, I was there a lot! either on the bus or on the back of Woodys motorbike.
Anyway....the Bkool arrived today. I shall probably spend a couple of weeks getting used to it. Any tips for trial rides etc?
Alpe d'huez was fairly popular to establish your bkool fitness level. There are several versions but the best have video. Only 7 miles.

The longer flat sessions are good for kicking the legs into submission.

What happened tonight @Jim Brown and @rob01792 - you both had a go at CG1 but bailed 1/2 way through. Was BKool playing up? I might have a gentle go at CG4 tomorrow, to set a time. Promised myself that I will keep power to 180 only so won't get a good time, but at least will set a time of sorts for the guys to demolish on Thursday!

I nearly pooped myself^_^ or at least that was what I was going to say to TT earlier....

Tom D has been on my Caribbean weight loss diet to help his climbing power to weight.
I forgot to tell him about the side affects.
None the less those same side affects no doubt gave him some extra thrust in the TT.

He did well to limit his losses today though (time wise I meant)
Having got rid of that ballast he climbed really well.
He didn't leave as many skid marks a Nibali on the decent either.
I am going to back him all the way now (note I did not say stand behind him)

Go Tommy go!

I loved that yellow eight valve Woody had.
Not the biggest bike in the world but it sounded sweet.
Never forget the day we got pulled over by Hell's Angel Sergeant of Arms because Woody was wearing his colours.
I thought we were dead, but he just took Woody's colours and invited us for a drink at his local.
We didn't go

Ahh yes, the old shrapnel...world war 1 is it? :giggle:

Seriously though, knee trouble is a riders worst nightmare. Hope you can get it sorted out, or at least ride without it getting worse. I developed a little knee problem myself this season...nothing that gives me trouble yet, just a click everytime I take a step down a stair...gives me the creeps though.
