Nice ride Bill, thanks.
If it helps, I was in pain and didn't want to risk the Bill power in the finale

I think Steve did well seeing as we were two-up

Yup! Steve did really well and I'd have struggled to beat his time on my own. You didn't have to worry too much about the Bill Power at the end there as there wasn't much of it left.

Thanks for the tow AAAC and the waiting. I assume you knew I was behind you?
Steve, I think if AAAC hadn't been there I'd have been getting a tow from your ghost.

I've been 'off' for a couple of weeks now. Wooden legs, butt aches lower back pain.
You find yourself sitting wrong to try and avoid pressure and just causing more aches or pains elsewhere.

However I have been watching you pace against mine over a couple rides now and I must say your power seems to drop off in climbs but your up there with me on the flats.

Today was not so bad as there were not too many steeper climbs with any real length but in a previous ride you just went backwards on the climbs with me keeeping the same power as the flat.

What does it look like from your side?

I see the same as you when we hit the hills. I usually take a run at them knowing whats going to happen, that you'll fly past and then probably slow down near the top to give me a chance to catch up. What is actually going on at my crank arms is very different though. I put in extra power to attack the hills but still can never keep with you even though you use the same power as the flats. I think its the same reason that almost everyone beats me on long steep hills. My power readout is lower even though I am trying harder compared to the flat. this has been the case for a long time now, I think as long as we've had the dead stops, which if I remember right is the same time that we lost our sling shot powers.
I've also spent less time on the turbo lately so would expect to be a bit less fit. Less than 2 hours/week these days.

Thanks guys for the comments, the last few rides i replaced the training tyre with an 'ordinary'? schwalbe lugano tyre and it seems much better, smoother, probably won't last very long but can't have everything

Bill, have a go at this
Up and Up 1% per 200m
and maintain a steady effort by feel.
Does not have too be your best effort just steady and see how your power readings look:
Perhaps use http://bikecalculator.com/ to choose a power and speed for 0% and work out from http://bikecalculator.com/ as to what your speed should be at each grade.
Even better still get and electric drill with and adjustable speed stop on it.
Stick a socket on it and drive your turbo with it on the afore mentioned course.
You should get a reasonably straight power curve.
Must try that myself!
If its a battery drill make sure it is fully charged though however a corded drill would be best.
