Right @Whorty - tomorrow you rest, relax, have a glass of wine and look after HID. Thursday is Chaingang day. I don't want to hear any excuses about tired legs or dodgy 5% struggles. I've had a look at stage 3 and it's almost flat. Lots of rest now Whortmiester...

See ya on the start line... :boxing:
I have guests coming Thursday through to Sunday so not sure how much riding I'll get done. Hopefully will make the CG but depends when they turn up.

Tell them check in isn't until 8pm. If they arrive early, they will have to wait in the garden. :rain:

Thanks for keeping me company Jim
One thing I am realising doing these 60 km rides is that my stamina is laking.
The last 10 km was done on fumes despite the relatively low HR.

Averaging 400 watts over that distance and terrain is quite a dig.. I would have bailed AAAC. That last climb was brutal. It's no wonder there aren't many competing with you in the 'classics'.. :heat:

I was, as in the past, looking forward to the final climb to try and up my average watts and possibly go up to a blue hat.
It was all feeling to easy until I was 30 km in and then the legs were getting hollow all be it the heart was willing.

I will also getting uncomfortable on my perch again which is also very distracting.
Funny (ha ha) thing is back just before the Nation's Cup I had a bit of an ache above the knee so I reset my saddle height to the inside leg rule and it was really comfortable.
Since then I've done some minor tweaking and have perhaps strayed too far from the norm and need to reset again.

Indeed. Recent real world rides of over 40 miles have been great however, last evening I was out and found myself searching for comfort after 20 miles... all very strange.

I'm away on my jols shortly, and really ready for it. I think it's psychologically tiring me out counting down the days. I've the April Chaingang to try to perform on and one real world sportive on the last Saturday of the month, then that's me off following the herds....

Then back and try to go for 300 watt averages.. :training:

This evening saw the last coat of paint on my newly repaired carbon frame - (snapped derailleur hanger-gate) I've taken my time over the repair and subject to a couple of coats of lacquer, I believe I'm happy with the results. I even think it's good and strong enough to get back out on the road again. Subject to me not being hospitalised by a broken seat stay entering my buttocks, I'll let you know how it goes. I won't be getting rid of 'G' though - it's been a great little bike since Bored Man failed.

I may miss the CG tomorrow on account of being on Pick Up HID duties at 19:00 hrs.

So unless I can get home and on the bike in 10 I will miss it.
I will pre-prepare my stead and be dressed ready for business when I pick her up, bar the tap shoes thus making every effort of attending.
I could end up being a few minutes behind chasing!

And within a few minutes, you'll be ahead of the Tail End Charlies!

It makes it a little more interesting if you go off a little later - Handicap stylee- it keeps us beige riders honest. Even with a ten minute head start, you'll catch us before the finish. There's nothing greater than 2% on the whole course.
