Another funny day in BKool La La Land.
WC Stage 12 (White Roads).
Challenged No2 (Thomas R) because Pep's time seemed pointless chasing.
The challenge had all the right ghosts in already so I had plenty of bench marks/references.
Started well on a 52/13 and hit on bleep No 3 and was first off of the line.
Got the normal ridiculous starting speed anomaly which carried nicely into the small descent whilst clicking down into 52/11.
I hit the first incline at km 2 at 280 watts and the speed just didn't drop of and the watts stayed quite flat.
Everything seemed a bit odd and by the time I got to the next descent I realised the resistance was not changing.
All of this time I had been bit distracted because I had no HR showing.
Anyway I backed of on the cadence and then the resistance kicked in.
By this time I was already showing as having over a minutes lead.
As I hit the next climb at km 6.3 I noticed the resistance was not rising so again I backed off on the cadence and it kicked in again.
It seemed to work for the rest of the session and by this time HR was back and I paced myself for the rest of the session to keep below my 160 bpm limit.
This was a combination of medium spinning effort on the declines and out of saddle/higher cadence power climbs.
As I crested the penultimate climb my chest was feeling a bit tight.
I have learnt that my best course of action when this happens is to back of but keep on exercising.
Stopping can result in some real discomfort.
By the time I got to the foot of the final climb I was feeling OK again so I put in another high effort but the tightness soon came back so I reduced my effort over the top of the crest and coasted home.
I was annoyed because I thought I was going to best Pep's time but by slowing up I thought I had lost out.
Apparently not!
Well the time I got was part down to gifted hyper powers at the beginning and probably some standard super powers in the middle.
Had this been the Chaingang I would have stopped short or not saved the session but seeing as it's only the WC I thought what the heck.
In penance I won't re-run Stage 11 and stay last on our group of 4.
However the super powers were still there on the Handicap which why I managed to fly up to Bridgy again on the last climb but I was too knackered from the WC Session to bother fixing it or to contest on the downhill to the finish so I tried to drag Rob home instead and lead him out for a sprint against himself.
Having you catching me up - as well as having Bill to chase - pushed me on, so now it's all over I can say I was grateful for the added motivation! I was cursing your climbing ability at the time though, so kind of glad to hear you had some super power help!

Sorry about joining late, my daughter was on the turbo trainer and a mix up on handover, I opened BKool and couldn't work out why I was getting no turbo trainer signal until I realised I had two IDs running concurrently on the same computer.

When I got into it I found that I couldn't muster the same power output as last week, I think a lack of fuel and also not being close enough for the adrenalin to fire up.

I saw that the bunch appeared to be very close at the top of the mountain but quickly came apart on the descent, meanwhile I thrashed about on the ascent to very little effect.

Count me in for next week.

Copycat.

Edit. I just looked again and in your case it looks like the hanger. I hope it's no part of your frame. On mine the derailleur itself broke.

My thoughts too.
At first I was going to say what came off first, the jockey or the mounting bolt.

I had to slow before I reached you otherwise it would have looked stupid and or p'd you off more

Sorry to see that. Hope it's not done any damage to the frame...

Morning all.

What can I say? Firstly thank you for your thoughts..

Yep, after the hanger snapped the derailleur travelled round and took a lump out of the seatstay... gutted. I don't think it's repairairable.

Looks like the Falkirk Sportive will be done on my Chopper now.. ! Best get some lolly sticks for the spokes...

 Gutted for you.
That's the problem with carbon frames when they get mashed... they're not very strong. Get the epoxy out...

Ahh, that's crap:sad:

There's lots of places that repair carbon frames Jim. Fingers crossed it's repairable
