LIVING THE DREAM
I was with the mighty 300 at the Battle of Thermopylae but I know not of the 2000 great men.

In a later life I road with the brave 600 from the Light Brigade into the Valley of Death and more recently I fought with the hero's of Telemark but now I stand amongst mortals in the Virtual World known simply as BKool.

I could furnish you with a replacement.
Can't send it until Wednesday though.

Does surprise me to hear the thread is worn, are you sure it's not locked against the end of the thread or spinning on the grub screw.
If you get that chatter I expect it's sticking on the end of the thread. If this is the case you may want to put a couple of small washers under the stepper motor flanges where it mounts on the turbo body with two screws.
Thanks. I will try that to get it away from the worn spots. I took the picture next to what is my DD fund.
I also may be able to " clean" the threads tomorrow at work.
I'm checking into getting it covered under a weird extended warranty through American Express.
Thanks again for the offer. I may take you up on it. I'll let you know.

Reading posts from our mighty Nations cup competitors today has got me worried. TT is in La La Land giving a speech as if expecting an Oscar. DP, who I have hitherto considered to be a "mans man",is reduced to tears! AAAC is clearly delirious from his exertions or on that infamous second bottle of wine, or both as he reminisces fighting every well known TV war film. Bridgy has taken to posting shots from hie Pep tach photo album which suggests somewhat divided loyalties to me! Finally, there is Bill who took up Randy's suggestion that he imagine AAAC as Angelina Jolie FAR too quickly for my liking and hasn't reviled from that position even though he now knows his/her hair is coloured with Grecian 2000:ohmy:
Not like those sensible Danes, riding up Ventoux today!

I blame the manager and suggest we do a Leicester and sack Geoff:okay:

I for one will be glad when normal service is resumed. God forbid this is the new normal:rolleyes:

Now the dust has settled from the awesome BNC, I thought I would do a little write up on my early spring training break. The Company my wife so graciously bought me a trip with is http://tenerifebiketraining.com/

I hired a bike box and packed my newly built Tripster. You can hire BMC bikes there and everyone said they were very comfy with excellent brakes(you certainly need them) The Hotel was excellent with decent rooms and facilities, food was buffet breakfast and evening meal, which is a good job because you will eat second portions and even thirds. Starts are early and you need to be up at 7am for breakfast to ride for 8.30 or be collected to drop off points. I and my BIL did the 'New Riders tour', shorter version of the Volcano which most riders do. In hindsight I probably could of done it, but wasn't sure if my ankle(did I tell you about me ankle-Bob^_^) would stand upto the distance. First day was a bit of a shock with a quick climb out from Los Christianos. a very windy 58 miles with a 4.5 mile descent and return climb with 8-11% gradients in the middle. I was dropped, but eventually shepherded back to the pack.
As the week went on my fitness improved, with 3 rides into the top of the crater which were great fun. The climbs on some mornings were simply beautiful in the cool mist riding switchback hairpins. The weather in the crater was pretty good despite being quite cool. I and others found the lack of oxygen were sapping in power, with an odd sensation of not being able to pedal fast. The crater roads are very misleading with them looking pretty flat but actually have a 8% gradient, like an optical illusion. The descents were very long, some taking nearly an hour, the weather playing a big part with thick fog, damp roads and dozens of hairpins, temperatures dropping to 4 Deg C. On a couple of occasions it rained on the descent partly making cornering a bit nervous. There were some demon descender s on our tour, but they had the benefit of coming on a tour before so were familiar with the hills. The roads are mixed in quality from super smooth to down right dangerous broken surfaces so caution is needed in places.

Gearing, normal compact crank and 32t on the back will do for guys who are less than 80KG, but you will have to grind it out if heavier and slightly unfit. I was so glad of my MTB setup. My BIL struggled on the long climbs and abandoned parts of the rides, but rejoined when he recovered. I would thoroughly recommend the trip for an spring tune up, with my strength improving over the week. The group leaders suggesting performance improvements after a week or so  Im going again, as many of the riders there were on their 2nd or 3rd trip. I met a great bunch of riders and had a great time socially as well as riding.

If Cyclechat wants to organise a group tour I would jump at it.

Great evocative write up Andy. Sounds like you had a blast. Coming back stronger is the icing on the cake. Though the proof of the pudding will be your performance in the chain gang:okay: and all these food references are designed to get you to eat lots in the meantime:tongue:.

I was eating like a horse and haven't put on any weight. 240 miles and nearly 30,000 ft of climbing. I have an FTP test coming up and will be interested what I do!? Legs feel pretty good, though a little tired, high cadence certainly helped stave off soreness. I was still able to spin at 80 rpm on the steepest sections.

On the last day when we were being transferred back half the riders were asleep in the minibus.. Including me, who had a nap or two:smile:
