I must say, I think the Danes did a great job, invested a lot of effort, and they did well to win it, especially Tommy Watt and Jacob!

I bet Tommy would have liked to beat Pep just once...

Nah, Tommy was saving himself for today's stage. He won the 21.5km race up the Mont Ventoux in 1h10m44s, averaging 411w and 18.2km/h. Not too shabby the day after BNC! :-)

Our tommy could probably do it in 30 minutes the amount of watts he was dishing out

Thanks mate

(This got very long winded ... skip to the bottom for short version! :okay:)

I'd like to say this is the start of my rise to the pro ranks, but honestly it was just the perfect storm for me. I didn't put in anywhere near the training I wanted to but last week I decided to cut my losses so I didn't even commute by bike after Tuesday. It made a big difference as when I got on the bike Saturday I felt strong straight away. Stage 1 didn't take nearly as much out of me as I thought it would as AAAC put in a massive stint then DP jumped in too. So by stage 2 I was really well warmed up. Then on stage two, I had a guy with me, a guy a minute behind me, and Bridgy a minute ahead. The lads made a good call saying don't up the pace so as to drag the other guy I was with towards Bridgy, so for a big chunk of the race I wasn't pushing very hard at all. Then I realise the guy I was with had slowed to the point the guy behind was 10 seconds behind us and I thought f**k this and I hit full gas. I didn't know how much they had in the tank so I just decided to bury myself to send them both a message not to bother. They got the message ^_^. Then Bridgy's on the radio saying "keep pushing to me mate, and we can work together". So I kept going till I found Bridgy. My legs still felt ok at this point and my breathing wasn't out of control at all. Then Bridgy says let's chase down the guy in front or words to that effect. So we attack again! On reflection I should've gone a bit slower here so as to stick with Bridgy but I'm not really used to being in this spot so I just went all out which wasn't exactly great team work on my front, especially considering all the help I'd had...

Definitely lots of adrenaline pumping. I don't think I've seen my HR above 170 ish since I got the sensor so going to 190 may say something? I was also cycling angry. I just wanted to make sure I had nothing left to give after the races were over. I got some of those sports gels and that definitely gave me a boost. Also I wouldn't be at all suprised if bkool gave me a helping hand if I'm being honest. I really killed myself to reach those high numbers but when I got up to 8 / 900 watts it felt surprisingly easy to maintain it which didn't feel right to me. Also what Breedon says. The occasion, fear of failure perhaps, being in a great team of people I respect and don't want to let down, all the great encouragement both on the radio and in the forum which I looked at between stages. Not knowing your opponents abilities but building them up to being complete monsters in your head is a factor! Also leaving nothing in the tank, no work in the morning... and the fact it was in the morning too. All these things I guess.

Bloody hell that got very long very quick sorry guys!... maybe I've thought about it too much today but I think it caught us all by surprise. So now I've said all that waffle I can just put it in perspective for what it was and move on...

*Every dog has his day is the short version...

One tale I can tell is:
There is a place called BKool La La Land where you can make big watts for less effort, a kind of BKool BOGOF.
Many have been there and reported the sensation.
The Velodrome has many portals into La La Land but you need to be going big guns to break through the barrier and if the drome is crowded you can surf on the crests created by others.
I have also broken through on a few hilltop finishes but it is on the flatter roads that you will find the place that has most entrances but again you need to be going great guns to get in.
One of the best ways in is at the start by using the mighty BKool sling shot start and try and keep the cadence high and power on, and it works best if you are in front.
Relax and look back at your own peril as you will then fall back through the portal into the swamp where the mortals ride.
Another way to enter is to descend like the wind and power into the flat roads in order to create a bow wave that will lift you from the ground being ridden by mortals.
Be warned, I have heard that this magic does not work in the Land of Swift or Trainer road so use the gift wisely.

PS. I see the Nation's Cup rides have now landed in the infernalnet and can be viewed by mortals.
Unfortunately I am not in a place where I can see the infernalnet clearly as I do not have my magic viewing glass with me where I walk and must wait till middleweek to uncover the magic that I and others cast to lift us above the ground trod by mortals.

Got to watch the end of KBK on my phone though.
The mighty Sagan rides again, but the young Luke Skyrider who hails from the Land of Dragons faired well but was beaten into third by the Jester (Styman).

He named as Lance who was banished by mortals from the land of bicycling tells me that one can use Evenly Positioned Obstacles to rise above the boggy road ridden by mortals however I have not tried this myself as others may see them and follow thee into the land of BKool God's thus making even the lowest mortal appear to be godlike and then the world of bicycling would truly transcend into a place of darkness.

@AAAC have you been watching too much Lord of the Rings or something?

Fear not, I have been sent to the great city where the mighty Queen lives by my Master.
I gave the gate keeper of the mighty Hilton 20 sheckles and for that I have been gifted all of the canapes one can eat and a bottomless glass of fine Wiskey. My Master does not require me to venture back into the world until the hour of 11 on Maunday so my head should be clear of Whiskery by noon.

@aaac is sauraman, old, still powerful and a bit naughty... with white hair...

I am blessed in that the hair that white does not show and neither should it be shown.
There is a mild dusting of God like silver dusted around my crown but a fine thick carpet of dark brown adorns the most of my skull.
