How's this TTT work please? I need to look after my teammate McWhortface - any guidance please? Is it time handicapped, what if my teammate McWhortface dies trying to help his teammates and/or is there any shame in finishing long after you've showered, had your Horlicks and said goodnight to the cat?

I thank you.
Last year, handicaps were set to the 3rd fastest rider in a team for that particular course. each team sets off together at their alloted time, like the normal handicap, with slowest team first, followed by next slowest etc. The team time is given based on 3rd person to finish. No point bombing off, but better to stay together and draft. Was good fun last year as it meant real teamwork and looking after the weak in the team (me) ^_^

Bill looking at the frame tech spec for this frame the angular geometry is the same for both the medium and the large frame.
So with particular respect to the seat tube so long as you have your seat height set correctly your hip to knee to pedal triangle will be the same on both a M & L.
The chain stays are the same length on both as well but the M wheel base is 978 mm and the L 995.
So if the same fork is used and the same head angle (the former I assume is and the latter is so as stated in the tech spec) then your large frame is 17 mm longer than a medium (about .7 inch).
Your seat pin set back looks to be about 15mm so switching it around moves the saddle centre 30 mm forwards.
However because you have an L I would have imagined your stack is higher that you would have set it on an M which would make up for the most of the 17 mm.
I'm not saying that you don't need to reverse your saddle pin but theoretically your tendency to move forward is more likely to be down to your handle bar each, i.e. the stem length and not the seat pin.
However if you have your front wheel raise this will move you saddle back from the bottom bracket centre line as measured on the horizontal.
Or perhaps you have a low thigh to calf length ratio.
I would have expected a Scot to have long thighs though so he can have deep pockets!

Thinking a bit Geoff, do we need to tweak the rules so it's not first 3 back, but maybe average if all team, or say if 5 in the team then it is 4th rider back? Else temptation could be for 3 fastest riders leaving slower team mates behind, which wouldn't be nice! Just thinking whilst I'm sat in the train coughing over my fellow travellers

Did I say I have a cold so feeling a bit rough

But then team tactics could mean two team members do a hard push to start whilst others draft and save energy, a bit like team track sprints.

OK, who's up for a Handicap Team Time Trial tomorrow (Tuesday) 7pm (UTC)?

I thought we could run Pico again, as it was great for drafting in previous TTT's.

Probably best to start with just three teams, unless we can be sure to get 16+ riders.

Should open up some interesting tactics, and we can adjust the teams depending on who is riding.

Teams something like... please let me know if you can ride so I can adjust and calculate the fairest handicaps.

Did some testing. First I tried a Conti Sprinter 22mm tubular tire pumped to about 12 bar. Surprisingly this was notably worse than the Conti gp4000 s II clincher.

Then I tried my new Bkool Pro but I just couldn't get it to work properly. The resistance would vary quite a bit even though the gradient didn't, and it repeatably dropped to 0 watt and showed the "Do you want to end the session" promt.
It also made more noise than my old Pro, which was the opposite of what they promised .

I noted two things about the new Pro:
It used a 12V power supply while the old one used a 15V.
Bsim presented me with the choice of connecting the trainer using Ant+ FEC, which I never saw before (it behaved just as bad in this mode)

Sounds like another dodgy unit... give it to your daughter for her to drop and see if it works any better.

Did you enter the ballot for ride London Andy? I did but I never manage to get in.
Guys. Is the 2017 ballot been decided yet, I entered but didn't think they sent magazines out till this month?

Upping techno but cost cutting on Material and Quality no doubt.
Perhaps they are trying to keep up with the Chinese.
Only difference is they still won't match them on price and 'complain' to a Chinese Vendor and they will send you another one free and not ask for the other one back.
Other than techno, the metal roller and extending frame stand I can't see one build quality improvement on any Pro I have taken apart compared with my early Classic.
Granted not a lot has changed but what has is not for the better.
Flywheel is cheaper the fan arrangement is not as well put together, the quick release nose pins on the turbo unit are a weak point.
The electrics have stayed pretty much the same other whats on the PCB.
It would be interesting why they have gone for 15v though, always thought that most things could be done on a USB voltage.

It's all 'techno techno techno', it's as though 'there's no limit'....

I do it through sponsorship, I've tried 2 other years on ballot and gave up bothering. I did it the year there was a hurricane storm, biblical flooding, drains popping up all over the place, bizarrely warm. Only downside it was reduced to 84 miles because of safety concerns with the decents from Leith hill and Boxhill. That was before I did my self no favours and broke my foot. Did I tell you about my foot? ^_^

Andy, you will get no sympathy talking about debilitating injuries on this forum:sad:
^_^

I have entered through the ballot but expect a knock back as in previous years.
