Thanks for the invite, I'm looking forward to it.

I think the climbs are great training, a long descent is boring on the trainer and it's impossible to keep the watts up.

Not quite up to the really long ones, but enjoyed Alpe d'Huez at just over an hour.

Thanks,

Geoff

I will be up for the mountain goat group, but I am guilty of only posting once and not joining a ride yet, I joined up and have not long recovered from winter germs, did my first bkool ride tonight, so getting back into it now, so I'll be joining in now.

I've sent you a bkool friend request. Once accepted I'll be able to add you to the Group.

I've started to make a list of nice little potential climbs for the new league which could be starting pretty soon. 1 a week probably.

Ah but you did Col du Maddie didn't you. And I agree there's no better training. Sometimes need a few days rest between rides though I find.
I'm looking forward to it too.

I'll join, not a goat yet but it's gotta be done. I certainly won't be racing up them, just glad there is no broom wagon.....

I'll do a few and see how I feel.

Mehh you've already earned your goat status in the previous league. You got any requests for the league, like your favourite climb perhaps?
Nope, no requests, I'll leave those to you Bill, the Goat Shepherd. I trust your judgement.
A day of re-siting Turbo...on new mat, I got for Xmas, fitting tri-bars to wife's bike, and then sitting looking at it for at least an hour, mustering the enthusiasm to leap aboard!

I don't know if I'm being thick here but on the last 2 rides I have done, FTP-1 and Barnet/Vermont, Amateur 1's have "set a record"
How does that work then? cant get my head around it, especially the FTP test with 11543 attempts.

Good afternoon folks and Merry Christmas. This is my first ever post....to any forum. I'm a returning cyclist and have been bought a bkool pro for Christmas. I can't decide if my wife thinks I'm fat or she wants shut of me for an hour everyday or maybe both!!
I have read lots of this thread but still can't get a feel for the speed that everyone rides. Lots of mentiones of triathlon but very little of tail end Charlie's :-) the category I'm sure I will fit in.

My question is, should I ask to join your Thursday cycling club or should I get used to cycling again - learn to walk before I run so to speak.

Any other tidbits you can pass on to me would also be gratefully received
Thanks for reading and thanks to anyone who replies.

Even multiple shorter ones adding up to approx an hour would be good as well I guess if you can find enough of them. I will have a look as well tonight and save some links for you to check as well.

I've seen something like that before. Very well tuned Kickr's capable of doing 40mph uphill. Alpe d'Huez in 20 mins by Amateur 1's !!! I'll be watching out for those I the goats

Sounds good. I found the most difficult thing is finding the rides again in the search parameters within the league setup. That can be tricky. But yeah, a few shorter rides per week adding to an hour or so would be fine as long as they can be set up in the league.

By trusting my judgement I guess you mean you trust my ability to inflict pain and suffering? ^_^

Have you tried the tri-bars on the turbo trainer yet? I'm curious if it would give a rest from the upright position for a bit.

Hi ya Wheely and welcome, we do all have different abilities but that should not deter you from joining the Thursday group, we are a good bunch and not frightening at all ^_^.
The best thing to do is to do an FTP Test and then you will know what sort of fitness level you are and it will spur you on to get a higher rating.
Tips: A fan is a must!
