It was uneventful!

Bill, Darryn and I were the only ones to make it.

I'm afraid it became a bit of a recovery ride for me, as I was suffering a bit from Tuesday's climb. Tried to keep my heart rate down around 140, so had to watch the others guys zoom off.

Bill's acceleration off the start line was hilarious, he was gone before I'd got moving. Then Darryn came by me on the climb and I settled down to the role of tail end Charlie.

I think Bill stopped for his dinner about half way, and I eventually caught up and we had a little play at drafting each other.

Nice course, I'll try and do it again when I've got a bit more energy.

Strangely, I'd have been very pleased with my average watts a few weeks ago, shows how much progress I seem to be making with the BKool.

Of course, it then refused to upload my session, finally managed it but insisted on validation for not having zero weight, then crashed repeatedly when I tried to accept it! Plus ca change ...

Well that didn't work out very well last night, I started and dropped my chain straight away LOL! Then the power went out in our neighborhood so there was laptop power but no internet....

I was really wondering what happened to you. When I saw the route I thought I'd better get to the top of the hill ASAP as you two would be overtaking me on the way down. In the end we had quite a play around and Geoff beat me to the line by 2 seconds.
As for start line acceleration, when I saw the start gradient was about 0%, I had it in top gear just waiting to give it some watts. No gears to change as you really don't want that on the bkool. Very different from real life starts.

Just thinking about what to do for the next Thursday night league.

We've got until Sat (27th) to register a time for El Bosquet-Porrera, you should have no problem beating my 1:04:17.4.

Then I'm tempted to start working through the 100 climbs at one a week, though some of them are very short (Bill should manage some of them in around 5 minutes).

It would be nice to do another Velodrome session, but they don't seem to work well in the leagues.

Perhaps on the weeks when a short climb is scheduled for Thursday night we could add a group Velodrome session? 20 to 30 minutes seems enough for going round in circles being lapped repeatedly!

Any thoughts welcome?

Bill, any plans for the next Rebel League?

Thought about El Bosquet-Porrera for this morning, but when I got up I didn't fancy it (I have done it before @1h:00m:55s), so did Geoff's Dipford loop followed by some velodrome laps.

Found Dipford a nice little ride, actually just what I needed this morning, not sure if it was the route or something on the turbo, but got 6.2 km in and the turbo went into mega resistance, I was on 52-13 at the time and the watts output registered over 2000 :0 All recovered at the next change of gradient. Then just spun out in the velodrome for 29 minutes keeping the HR at 150 ish.

When looking at the stats for the ride on the website, I found that you can see rankings for the route, never seen it before. When you're in the activity view, click on the route title :

Then click on the Ranking tab and you can see how you performed against others.

I like the idea of those short climbs Geoff. One thing I'd like to work towards is improving how long I can make power for a sprint, so those hills would be perfect for that. And velodrome session on the same night would be excellent as a warm up before the hill perhaps.

As for the Rebel League, I think interest waned somewhat so I'll probably restart it with some shorter mountains 1/2 hour to 1 hour which will hopefully fit better in to peoples schedules. I'd like to keep it as uphill as possible though (Medium - Difficult & 5 - 10 miles). I'll try to get that started for 1st week in January.

I think you guys may as well drop me from the Rebels, sounded good until I seen the routes you had chosen. I'll stick with Thurs group and let you mountain goats handle them big hills ^_^

I'm thinking to keep Thursday night league mixed, so each month perhaps one week one of those uk climbs (all fairly short), one week a velodrome session, one week a route with ups and downs, perhaps one of ours, and one week perhaps a slightly longer one, or one of the bkool recommended sessions, etc.

January has 5 Thursday's, assuming we want to do Jan 1st?
