I'm just getting over it. First in over 3 years so took bad with it. My legs are still a bit wobbly but getting there and stopped coughing as much now thankfully. Hope you feel better soon.

:hello:
Think it's going about, youngest daughter has it too..
I've inherited it
We'd both of the young 'uns yesterday for a short time so hopefully they'll be okay...
I thin k it's an age (not you as you are still a 'young 'un:ohmy:)
Almost was at yer toon t'other week,
we'd a run up to and walk around Callander and ended up in Comrie then back home via Braco as it was a braw day, had a Tesco meal deal on the banks of Loch Earn, living the good life:rolleyes:

For once we were lower than you, and the snow remains.
No vehicle movement until mid afternoon, due to the snow.
Council caught out by it snowing in winter. Half this years grit went on the roads in that warm spell last year.

The "Three L's", do you reckon they're good enough to get you down to the scout hut. If you felt like going.
Nap enjoyed?

How big/old are the bridges? They built them well back in the day.
In case yer not, wrap up, keep warm, and don't let yerself dehydrate...

Just above freezing the noo..
Sunny day outside but apart from a visit to the bins, I stayed inside...
No club tonight...
couldn't be ersed moving...

Over a decade ago, the Scots Gov gave out extra money so no one could be caught out, our lot bought snow blowers which must have been made with old British Leyland steel, when I left, unused and rusting badly..
Best sanding the roads took place in the run up to the Xmas wage.....

I remember the days before specialised gritting lorries:rolleyes:

Seldom above freezing for long today.
Like yerssen I stayed indoors, couldn't be bothered going out.
Road reopened mid afternoon, so no point in setting foot outside.
Could you nip down and borrow one if needed?

The lurgy making you think twice about going, once you'd got comfy. You feeling better now?

I remember throwing the grit from the rear of a slow moving flatbed lorry.

I remember watching the council do that in the village. Can you imagine the uproar if you asked them to work like that now! Not happy unless they can sit on their arse in a cosy motor.
There'd be uproar at being asked to work outside in the cold. Possible injury with a shovel, as for doing it whilst the vehicle is moving...

It'd beat standing around in the cold though.

I did that early 70s..
Lorry would be loaded end of afternoon,
we'd be on standby..
used to get picked up at the pub..
headed up the long steep hill out of the faded seaside resort I stayed in..
Two of us on the back..
100 yards at a time then change over..

I'm shovelling away then think I'm doing much more, looked for the other body.. nobody.
He'd fallen off lorry..
that ended the pub pickups.....

Got to the summit another time and the snow fell and fell...
took us hours to get back down, hairy descent
The amount of loonies who tried to get past you and get stuck..
they'd just get left until we cleared the road on the way down..

oh, good evening all

Done it myself, not as long ago as that though. Trailer behind a tractor, and a small flatbed with only room for one to work safely. So they put two of us on it.

Would the pub be the pickup point or somewhere to "water up" before boarding?

There was a gritted lorry went down a closed road, early Friday morning, and got stuck. Road closed, coned off, due to being unsafe due to the snow.

I like watching the loonies driving right up the back-end of the gritted as it's spreading.

Good afternoon :hello:
Just before midnight, I thought we'd be out sliding along snowy pavements..
uh uh never happened..
balmy temperatures just now of 9c..
some rain has fallen, in time for plants outside:smile:

Rugby this afternoon..
had offer of tickets but the lurgy is still alive and well here..
middle child and hubby are off to EDI....
but lots of cycling on,
just left the finish of Paris-Nice and now in Italia then later I'll catch up on the one day.
At 7pm GB vs Canada in the World Baseball Classic:ohmy:

First game last night was against the USA and only lost 6-2 which is good...
haven't looked too much into the team but jeez, the uniform looks piss poor and cheap.
I imagine some GB players possibly supped a glass of warm bitter down south and qualified, nah, I'm being cynical...

Evening

Ours was a Bedford Bantam (?) lorry and spreader was attached and if the lorry moved, it spun.
Pickup point, obvious not to excess.....

Best laugh was one Friday at end of the shift, supervisor told us, no need for bring our 'piece' on Monday, food would be supplied..
No one asked why, Mon 8am, what we doing, boss?
My 'flitting'
Off to Stevenson down the coast, lorry filed a couple of times with furniture etc, 10am plate of slice, bacon rolls each, drinks..
Lunch was the same and end of day, a couple cans of beer and an envelope with a 5 spot in it LOL.
A grand day:laugh:

'Piece' yer snap, sandwiches etc...
'Flitting' moving to another house...
'Slice' square sausage..

Around the same time I thought we'd be snowed in again. And like up there it never happened.
Early hours temperature was in double figures, where 12 earlier it was just above freezing.
Why would you be going out after midnight, sliding on pavements?

They didn't do well from what I've heard.
No better, at all?
Did they leave anyone for you to look after/eat your chocolate stash.
You never thought of taking this cycle racing malarkey up. Just sat there thinking "I could do that" as an arm appears from a support car.

Loosing is good these days.
Canada should be less of a loss/beating, national game in the US not Canada.
Second hand from a US supplier maybe.

You could be right, as for cynical.....

You were feeding the spreader, suppose you fell into it. Would the others have just carried on shovelling or helped you out?
Kind of helped you balance, or worked against you depending on the timing of any movement.

That were nice of him. Fed, watered and a little extra to go with it. He must have saved a fortune doing it that way.

Square sausages!
Is there nothing sacred!

Slice...

has various other names like Lorne Sausage, worth hunting out the version with onion.....
best with a layer of fried chopped onion and brown sauce in a roll

The spreader had a grid on top, it was a pretty small one TBH.

I'll have one or two...
Lorne Sausage, now that I've heard off and eaten(Deep Fried), from a chippy in Fort William.
I'll have a hunt for it down these parts.

Very little chance of falling in then, just on to it.

Don't like it deep fried but it isn't that bad..
We have slice vans oop here basically other areas would call burger vans...
A butcher pal once told me that meatier looking slice (or Lorne) didn't need to have much extra meat in it..
too much meat in the mix changes the texture...

Trouble has arrived...for a two day stay
