Were you on it??
No Valentine Days massacre..

Last tram round these parts left Masons Green, on St Valentine’s Day 1939.

We had 2 systems locally. One has been rebuilt to standard gauge. The other had some lovely old trams but was closed by the local town in the face of much protest and dug up within a week or two.
The local gov't promised that it would all be okay because there would be trolley busses instread. These now stop on the edge of the town (literally: the wires stop on the border).
Now there is no direct bus service along the old route and they are talking about reopening the tram to standard gauge for a part of the route, but not just yet because it will cost millions.
We could have had a tram running for the last 40 years, but there we go...

I've actually bought a pair for the MTB, but whether I a) get around to fitting them and b) actually go out in icy conditions remains to be seen.

I'm still really nervous of falling off again.

I know the feeling. I find the most dangerous bit about spikes is when I try and get off the bike, whereupon I realise the bit of road I've been happily riding down is in fact slippery: on ice or snow it the bike responds like it is on clean tarmac with spikes.

Tyres go around a bit like a lead weight when you are not used to them, but it can't be helped.

Most of the time. My Japanese wife wouldn't have been able to get a visa for the UK 18 years ago so we found a way. We're pretty settled here now and today Eldest Son starts a two year course to be a Bike Mechanic.

Thats cool, nice one :okay:
I assume its nice where you live and Stuttgart is a decent place.
When you lad has finished his course you should get him off for a job at Canyon......nice German bikes

Most of the time. You get a funny view when working with people with addiction/pscyh/employment issues all day.
Peronally I want to move away from the city. Will see what happens when I finish my contract in April 2018: we'll have a better idea how Brexit will look by then as well.

Elder Son is talking about either studying afterwards or possibly applying to work for Bosch: they are a local company and are often looking for bike mechanics who can work for them. Speakin fluent English and German is a bonus.
