I've seen a little Nikon compact in Argos for £50, can't afford it though

If it's not actually stopping you taking pictures is it not worth attempting a bit of diy on it before you sling it?

Best case is you fix it, worst and you'll have a camera that doesn't have a lens cap, then you'll just have to remember to keep it protected.

I starred in a similar video once. Mine was called 'Flat cap problem' though, sure it's the same. (Might have been cat flap problem, can't remember...)

I can't take photos with it. The top half of the lens cover is broken and hanging down, obscuring half the lens.

Always a problem if it keeps drooping.

By having a go at fixing it you'll either stop it drooping, or remove it altogether.

You'll never know if you don't have a dabble.

Hubby has kindly loaned me his waterproof compact Nikon (which he never uses! - see where I'm going here?)
He has taken my Samsung into work with him, along with his toolkit, to see if he can do something with it (he was an electronics engineer in the Marines).
