I'm thinking of just getting another one as it will probably cost too much to repair, tbh, if I could just remove the broken part, that would do.

The lens cover is in two halves. The top half is broken and hangs down, guessing the spring has gone.This can be done... but you need to find a LBS equivalent LCS..Local Camera Shop, unfortunately they are a bit thin on the ground now... The lens cap arrangement on the front is normally a single piece that includes the two 'eyelids' and the gumpf written on the front, normally it's only a snap on fitting that can be snapped off with careful levering use of a plastic implement slid in between the covers and its housing (please don't ask how I know this). If you remove that the workings of the lenscover are exposed but the covers will no longer be there to get in the way. It may only be a simple spring reattachment that's popped off, as ever I can't help from here!![]()
