I see that potsy has seized upon my declaration of 'veteran' status. Well, it turns out that in MTB racing, I am considered too old to be a veteran - I would actually be classified as a 'grand veteran'!
It struck me how old I am now when I saw a photo of a group of young female pro cyclists and thought that I am old enough to be their father, closely followed by the thought that it won't be too long before I am old enough to be their grandfather. Actually, if I'd become a parent in my late teens and that first child had done the same, I am already old enough to have grown up grandchildren ... Yikes, how did that happen so quickly!
