A thankfully uneventful 7 mile commute along pleasant country lanes to Thornbury today. I could not be bothered with the full 10 mile route for some reason, it is cold and grey and dull.

Bored train post warning!

Nothing much happened on the way to the station, but strangely for the dreich weather and the time a lot of pedestrians were about which meant a lot of red lights. Pottyboro lights are completely car centric they keep pedestrians standing there in the wet for ages and finally go red when there is no traffic (except bikes that is).

Oh and for Fossy I changed the picture. I'll not be doing that often though, my fingers are pretty sore and numb now and it was a mild morning!

Sorry to hear this, roundabouts nothing worse, no one ever seems to know what to do on them or how to treat them glad you managed to walk away from it

Drizzle for last night, drizzle for this morning. Strange though as the temps are hovering around the 6's and 7's but doesn't feel that cold. I suppose its because there's no wind to talk of.
I just keep thinking there's at least another 2 months at least of dark, damp, cold conditions. But hey.. not long now until the days start getting longer.

Anyhoo.
Rainy commutes #'s 43 & 44 for the year
Same period last year, 51 rainy commutes.

Well the new saddle got a tweak yesterday and it feels a bit better than before , i still must sit slightly odd so i am still considering a bike fit when i can afford it but at least the stitching of the old spoon isnt annoying me any more .
My commute speed has increased steadily throughout the week till im back in the usual ballpark speed as the wind has eased and my fitness as the lurgy slowly gets better .

third visit to bike shop finally got out on new (second hand Giant Defy) still slipping on gear 4 but who cares for now like a rocket this this morning. Mild weather minimal gear and finally a bit of speed. Fastest time into work for three months  not the speed really matters in the enjoyment of cycling just feels nice after last three weeks of hard slog into work with continual head winds and drizzle. Not sure how much will be cycling this week so if dont get a chance Merry Christmas and happy new year to everyone who reads and posts on here.

I had a great ride in this morning. I'd taken my boss's gravel bike home to give it a service, so this morning instead of my usual 26km road route, I went via the Family Trail through the Forest of Dean. 36km, about half of which is on traffic-free old railway paths. I don't know why I don't do it more often.
