I'm useless at coming up with routes. Happy to go on the Neasden Palace wander, it'll be somewhere different for me

It was just a select band of the 4 of us that I managed to get to go round in circles a little bit, due to me not loading the right route in the GPS initially. Sorry guys........

After the traditional wait for the Horse Guards (although I'd thought they'd moved to Greenwich), eventually, after a slightly indirect route, we ended up in Neasden, to behold the Neasden Temple, or as it is more popularly known, BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir.

we then arrived at what our decadent Western culture would now deem as its originating point, Ground Zero, the epicentre or the Garden of Eden, Alexandra Palace,

(well it was HD compared with the analog stuff of Logie Baird). Although no doubt Lord Reith is spinning in his grave with the dross now being broadcast by the BBC.

I've never been to Alexandra Palace, but it's quite a spectacular location. Dave then led us on a high speed descent back into the centre of London, where I peeled off back to the station.

The rest of the photos are shown here.

The forum's first gas and electric road bike. Nice one, Dave! :becool:
I remember playing cricket for Middlesex youth at Ally Pally and the bar up there had the biggest piece of glass in the world I reckon. (But it was about 1937 it seems...) Nice photos on a pretty good day, Adam - sorry I couldn't make it - some of us have got to work and keep the postmen busy so they can do overtime and buy nice kit!

Shame I missed you - but I didn't set out until around 15:00 for a bit of a cobweb clearer after a non-abstemious wedding weekend in Essex.
Home to Hyde Park, one lap thereof, Constitution Hill, T'Mall, Parly square, Embankment, over London Bridge down to Greenwich, one lap of the one-way system and back home.
Getting chilly out there, but beautiful skies and sunset.

That was a fun ride. Thanks for arranging a route. And there's nothing wrong with seeing the Bayswater Road more than once

I've never been to Neasden or Ally Pally before so a bit of an adventure for me. Dropped Fly off in New Cross with vague directions of which way he should go to get to Honor Oak Park. Hope he made it.

Got 50 miles in altogether on a very good and sunny day out!

Yeah I did. apparently I was invited to a party.

Forget the Olympic Village! I've had a special request from Mice and Rebecca O, as part of their intensive LonJoG training routine.

To build up their endurance, they've suggested a route to include Swains Lane and then Hampstead Heath (no doubt inspired by last Wednesday's tour past the Houses of Parliament, as I understand that Hampstead Heath is well known to a number of MPs).

So I reckon a nice little route through Hyde Park, across to Regents Park, up Swains Lane and then Hampstead Heath, and then back down again.
