It's never that warm along the coast. The rising hot air over the land will draw cool air off the sea, usually adding to the prevailing wind.

You need to move further along the coast then. It was truly rather hot on my beach today with just a breath of air. Even cycling didn't create a breeze

That's just on the threshold of what I'd find comfortable.
Hopefully my choice of the September date will elicit lower temperatures.

It was blowing a half a gale on the Marsh. We cycled to Hythe with the grand kids, had to have lunch in a sheltered pub garden because it was too windy at the beach cafe. How we suffered.
