Well that was jolly fun. Thanks for organising @Hill Wimp , lovely to meet you and the others that turned up. It's always good to see @User13710 and @deptfordmarmoset

Sorry i skidaddled off at Rye..I knew that if I joined you for lunch then I probrably would have got some beers in. not moved for a while and got lazyitus and got the train back home. So.. I sort of knew were I was going. I tried to find NCN11 to Ashford but missed the turning finding myself in Brookland, so had to double back until I found the sign for it. All found it was a lovely wind assisted ride back to Tonbridge. With 136 miles on the clock I felt I had my fill of cycling for the day so jumped on a train (which was pulling into the platform as I was walking down the stairs), so was home within half an hour. A nice long shower and the first of tonight's beers already drunk is making me feel normal again :-)

Thanks all. It was a glorious days cycling.

That was the longest tandem ride yet, a nice easy pace until we left Rye when things picked up a bit, we even got the lump to 32 mph down a bit of a slope. Nice to meet you all and will see some again in September.

What a lovely day, thank you for organising the ride @Hill Wimp. Sunshine and clear blue skies all the way, as per Ian's lovely photos, but a bit of a headwind - I did miss my windbreak after @martint235 decided to set off back home. There was a fair bit of what might be described as mild off-roading, so I may use the touring bike next time.

I had an hour to wait at Rye station, because the tiny two-coach train that Hills and Marmoset got went up to Ashford and then came back again. When it did reappear it was surprisingly empty, so all the bicycles that had appeared in the meantime managed to fit in. Brighton station was packed out with people queuing to get home from Pride, so I ended up cycling home from there, up the Col de Seven Dials. Go me.

Looking forward to the rerun in September .
Oh sorry we pinched your train, that was a bummer. I will remember to keep an eye on those trains before September as I doubt Southern will gets its act together before then.

Glad you had a good time. It was a long shot hoping to bump into you. I was in Camber at about quarter past one, having chips (but not a saveloy ... I decided against that) outside the Pelican Fish Bar.

That wind made things tough. It's a bit weird round there, reminds me of the coastal bits of the Thames (Isle of Grain, and by Tilbury). Flat, scrubby, post-industrial patches. But the wind helped me pick up the pace after Rye.

We got into Rye at 2.30 so were only a little ahead of you. Glad you had a good ride.
