Me! Oldest public school in Britain, I was at - the same place Guy Fawkes, Kit Wright and a few of the other Gunpowder Plotters were educated at.

So do you eat Yorkies?

I used to cycle past that place every day to work. It was a seething hotbed of beemers and range rovers on the school run. It's a mystery how I escaped the carnage..

OK cheers. Did you all go to private fee-paying schools? It sounds very Old School and stuff. Maybe we just never had them in Sheffield!

Likewise. We used to prefer putting our collective anger in beating other schools at sports which we were particularly good at. Shite academically, but on the playing fields of Essex we would make you our bitches. ;)

We got given merits for good things. But when you got to year 10/11 no-one was really bothered about them, so the teachers never gave them out:laugh:
There was the competition betweenthe houses as to who got the most merits, my house was normally 3rd because we were one of the smallest houses.
My house lost it when we got a new head of house, she wasnt as cool or respected as the other one:wacko:

we used to get merits for things, but didn't have houses so no house points.

you could clock up, in the back of your school homework planner the amount of merits you had and it counted off a certain number for bronze (15) silver (25) gold (50) and platinum (100 i guess)

by year 9 it was a competition to see who in your group of friends would be first to get one, in a bad way (laughed at and ribbed etc)

by year 11 there were forfeits in place!
