I can't remember what our house names were, as they were all welsh and it was a long time ago.
I do remember that we wore colour coded ties at cetain times of the year. They were red, yellow and blue.
I was in the red house which was for the english only speakers, Blue was for the people with welsh as a first language, and yellow was for the people who could speak very good welsh but not fluent.

Castle (red)
Bridge (green)
Pitt (yellow)
Gordon (blue)

I was in Castle. It was average. Pitt and Bridge won more things, but Gordon was poo.

I was "full-boarder" whilst a Choirister at Exeter Cathedral, it was a full-time occupation so boarding was the only way. Most enjoyable time!
I was a Chorister at Magdalen College, so got a scholarship to the school. I was a full boarder too.

A chorister parent here - both our sons were choristers at Christ Church - sang ocasionally with Magdalen. A great experience all round.

Our uni student newspaper was called Pluto. The heading read "PLUTO - Furthest from the Sun" It was really good when I first started, even won awards, but is pretty mediocre now...Sorry, bit OT...
Was this back home in germany?

Another giveaway is the blank look you'd get if I'm asked anything at all about English history, which as far I can see has been entirely written out of the Scottish education system.

Also, I can sing the middle verse of the Grand Old Duke of York (Coal for Dysart, Dysart co-oa-oal, etc )
