The speed of monarchy is faster than light.

It's all relative.

There is a huge demographic shift in how people feel about the Monarchy. Generally, the older you are, the more you are deferential and feel attached to the monarchy. Unfortunately the country's organisations, be that the FA or the BBC or whatever, are out of step because they're run by older people and they don't want to be criticised for not going "full mourning"

Try asking a young person if they're happy that Coronation Street was cancelled, or that they can't got to the football this weekend

This is exactly the point I've been trying to make. There's respect and there's over-the-top.

Some people do want to go the whole hog, but I think a large number don't. Life doesn't just stop.

Like the blank gravestone in my local cemetery. It was unmarked for years, then eventually a name and other details were engraved on. How spooky is that eh! The occupier must've looked at the blank stone for years, wondering when his/her name would be added.

There is one in my local cemetery with my name on it and just waiting on the date.
