Japanese death row inmates aren't told their date of execution. They wake every day not knowing if it's going to be their last.

This is actually considered "more humane" by the authorities.

Being arrested in Japan means you've got about a 98% chance of being found guilty.

When Robert Ballard went searching for the wreck of the Titanic, it was just a cover story and he was really on a secret US navy mission to locate a couple of lost nuclear submarines. He was so successful in his search for the subs that he had time and funding left over to search for the Titanic and he actually found it.

There are more than 900 pubs in County Cork.

County Cork outnumbers Dublin’s pubs by far. With the most licenced premises of all the counties in Ireland, County Cork currently has 955 pubs, which is roughly equal to one pub for every 543 people.
County Mayo only has 373 pubs, but this works out at around one pub per 323 people.

The Phantom time Conspiracy theory claims the time period AD 614 to 911 never existed. The Theory claims these extra 300 years of History were fabricated in the middle ages to legitimise Emperor Otto's claim over the Holy Roman Empire. According to the theory we should be living in the year 1726.

The afterburning Rolls-Royce/SNECMA engines in Concorde were, when flying at Mach 2, the most efficient heat engines of any type up to that point in history.

Yes, they drank a lot of fuel, but they were doing a lot of work - and at high speeds, not much kinetic energy is wasted in the exhaust gases.
