In 1979 the president of America, Jimmy Carter, was attacked by a giant rabbit.

Jimmy Carter was not the first world leader to be attacked by rabbits; Napoleon had the same problem centuries before. But unlike Carter, Napoleon lost his battle against rabbits. After Napoleon defeated Russia he decided to celebrate with a massive rabbit hunt. Hundreds of rabbits were gathered for Napoleon and his generals to hunt. Some accounts suggest there may have been over a thousand rabbits. The countless bunnies were caged in a large field. But when they were released they did not run away from the hunters, as was expected. They instead ran straight towards the men. Napoleon found himself swarmed by an army of rabbits. They pounced on and bit him until he was forced to run away. The most powerful man in Europe was defeated by rabbits.

I thought that was King Arthur and his noble men?

Some topical French tennis facts.

Roland Garros didn’t play tennis. He was the first French fighter ace and died in air combat around the time the stadium was built.
Rene Lacoste was a very successful tennis player. His nickname was the crocodile, which is why Lacoste clothing has a small crocodile embroidered on it. But he gained the name after winning some alligator skinned luggage.

In 1993, Greenland issued a 7.25-krone stamp depicting a locally fished crab that it labeled Chionoecetes oiliqo. The stamps were issued first in sheet form, but when they were reissued five months later in an eight-stamp booklet pane, collectors noticed something odd: The crabs’ Latin name had changed to Chionoecetes opilio.

What had happened? It turns out that the second name is correct; apparently during production the species name opilio had been mirror-reversed by accident. By a very unlikely coincidence, in the sans-serif typeface used all of its letters reversed into valid counterparts, producing a meaningless word that looked plausibly Latin and got past the inspectors.

The original stamps are now collectors’ items.

In 1998 four card players at a whist club in Bucklesham, Suffolk, had each been dealt one suit from a shuffled deck. Hilda Golding found herself holding 13 clubs, Hazel Ruffles held 13 diamonds, and Alison Chivers held 13 hearts (and won, as this was trumps). The dummy hand, face down on the table, held 13 spades.
The odds of this happening are calculated to be 1 in 2,235,197,406,895,366,368,301,599,999.
( but then the odds are the same no matter what hands are dealt. Four perfect hands are simply one of the many possibilites)

Chili Sauce Without Working
4 quarts of ripe tomatoes
4 small onions
4 green peppers
2 teacups of sugar
2 quarts of cider vinegar
2 ounces ground allspice
2 ounces cloves
2 ounces cinnamon
12 teaspoons salt
Chop tomatoes, onions and peppers fine, add the rest mixed together and bottle cold. Measure tomatoes when peeled. In case I die before my husband I leave everything to him.

It seems this was considered a valid will.
