Oh, you mention Oakleys...I've a pair of classic Randolph Engineering straight arm aviators, which I much prefer to my common as much Raybans.

Some watches have the weirdest branding. Throw in a couple of black and white photos of vintage airplanes and hey presto, an association with the old days of flying even though the brand started in the 1980s. Bizarre.

OK you got me, my Omega Seamaster, current replacement insurance value £4170. Although mine is 20 years old. Totally pretentious knobbery.

But I agree there are some designer fashion watches where you are paying for the name without any watch making pedigree.

Ermmm...

A Sparco Monza jacket in "sparco blue" - it's a jacket that looks like a racing driver's overalls, and two pairs of black & white Sparco karting boots.

And a vintage ladies' Omega wristwatch (a wind-up one) that I picked up on a jumble sale for 50p.

"The Flask’s cap is double sprung to allow for effortless drinking...." So that's why I've always found drinking such hard work. No double sprung cap. 😢

agree, nothing pretentious about 50p for an Omega watch.
Glad to see you around me old mucker. How are you diddling then? I've added an edit for my entry to your pretentious nobbery collection on the thread about vinyl albums. You know the one where you called me a nob. Check it out you'll like it.

Nothing wrong with SMP. I was kinda thinking along the lines of Bremont (even though I do like their watches).

That's astounding!

It was one of those that obviously slipped through the net - it does happen occasionally. It's quite understated for an Omega, but it keeps time beautifully.

The other one that slipped through the net was an 18ct white gold bracelet set with blue topaz that I picked up not too long ago in a charity shop for £2.99. The hallmarks are Italian, but how the hell they missed the 750 stamp on the clasp, I shall never know...
