Postman ..are they completely mad?

Standing on my doorstep this morning shivering in the cold with a T shirt and 2x sweatshirts and trackie bottoms on, up saunters my postman with a big grin on his chops and ice all over his beard ....wearing bloody shorts !!!1

It's surprising how well legs cope in shorts, even in this weather.

Ours wears shorts all year round too. I have heard the postmen at some depots put a quid a week in the kitty and the one who stays in shorts the longest collects the pot.

Girls wear short skirts all year round, I'm not suggesting your postmen are girls of course.
Maybe they find it easier because of the generally higher fat content, although come to think of it fat girls seem to complain more about the cold and wear long dresses.

It is warmer - I left work about 9pm and rode home in shirtsleeves, 1 suppose its about 15C with four or five months of good weather ahead of us. I am full of admiration for those of you who cycle especially in the north of England in this weather, although I guess the dutch populace continue cycling as ever.

Yup. There are always a handful in any office who wear shorts all year round.

Personally I wore thermal leggings under my trousers and every top layer I could find...

yep, i was always in shorts when i was a postie. in fact i only recently started wearing long pants at all. that's more about going off the way i perceive myself to look in shorts these days, rather than the weather. can't say my legs ever felt cold in shorts.
