I have no idea, but I recall him being pleased with the price
He probably was, but maybe he didn't realise or chose to ignore, limited mileage, no commuting, no gaining of no claims, unlikely to have 3rd party cover on other vehicles, these are all 'tricks' used to get the classic premium as low as possible.

Insurance policies vary
I only drive classics - usually classed as cars over 20 years but there are exceptions like MX5s
My NCD expired years ago

So I have 4 cars and a tractor on a classic policy, 5 named drivers, unlimited mileage and agreed values

This year’s cost was about £550, the most I have ever paid but it’s still a lot less than having them all on separates

The tractor and my LR are tax and MoT exempt but low mpg so not daily drivers

So you can make it work

So many restrictions on a classic policy but I'm sure he told them exactly what he was doing with it.

I tried getting a classic policy on the C70 vert.

In the end it was almost 50% cheaper, even with zero NCD (tied up in our dailies) just to take out a normal car policy with the same excesses, cover, mileage and value (market in both cases) , and none of the restrictions.

NCD can only be used on 1 vehicle! that's another auto insurance scam, if I've got 10 years no claims I've got 10 years no claims the number of policies is irrelevant. When they ask me have I had an accident or claim in the last 5 years I can't reply yeah but not on this policy (not that I have)

You got me nodding sagely at that Phaeton.

Insurers do want to have their dakr and eat it. You can only use NCD on one vehicle at a time, yet if you have a claim elsewhere they'll still load the premium on the car with the NCD when next you renew. I've long held the view that insurers use 'risk' not as a means of genuinely evaluating the business risk you may present, but rather as a means for maximising profit opportunity.

A few spots, but I was driving, & had f-in-law with me, if daughter had been there, she'd have probably quick enough on the uptake with her phone to snap them

Castleford;
Bridge Street (near the flour Mill)
- Mk 1 Escort, white, RS2000 stripes/wording
- MGB GT, orange, rostyle wheels

'New' A1;
northbound (between FerryBridge & HookMoor - where M1 joins)
- Jaguar 4.2 (late 70s/early 80's shape), towing a caravan
- Jaguar XK120/140/150 (not sure which), on a trailer, heading south

The Cortina is nice, & an unusual colour combination too
I see the very 70s addition of a rear-window ‘grille’/‘visor’

I would have loved a Cortina 1600E in red bitd, but sadly was a skint teenager, the Escort is tidy too, we would have been on holiday in Skegness when they came out and the Ford dealership across the road were good enough to let me look round them and let me have a sales brochure with them all in, those Anglia’s were also ripe for making a bit faster too, I remember my Grandad having one, white with maroon between the chrome body strips, got written off, when parked up, someone hit it from behind at speed.
