Went to Re-Bike today in Carlisle. Never been before, was getting tyres fitted somewhere close by. Its just a business or maybe a charity, not sure what, that employs ex-offenders to re-cycle/repair bikes that are donated. Was surprised at some of the prices of the bikes, seem to be realistic prices, unlike ebay and the likes. So will probably go back and buy one.

It was in a big warehouse, on the way in to the right was a big open space with an old Civic that caught my eye. Used to have an immaculate, slightly uprated MB6 1.8 VTI-S in Pirates Black, that went purple in direct sunlight, until a VW Transporter swapped lanes on a dual carriageway when I was overtaking it and totalled it. Thought they looked way better looking than the Rover 400/45 that used the same body. Maybe not everybody's idea of a modern classic, but they're going up in price. Just like the classic 3 box shape. This is just a 1.5 though, with a few mods that impove it, just IMVHO. This seems to have a private plate, sure it's not a 95, looks like a 99 or thereabouts.

Then there was a few other old cars that could possibly restored, maybe the Minor and Jaguar XJ6 (Daimler whatever it is) were past it though.

The Civic was registered 1 August 1995 (so will have been one of the first N regs on the road). It looks like someone’s beaten you to it in the “few mods” department. The others all look salvageable.

Thanks, knew they started making them then, but remember the early ones looked different. Think this one has some facelifted parts fitted possibly, as it really looks a bit like the 99 one I had.

Would've chose different alloys if still had the car now. Was lowered on Koni yellow's and H&R springs, Integra DC2 manifold, and a Mongoose exhaust with a sports cat, that was too noisy. The seats looked like they came out of a national express coach. Too long gearing, was out of VTEC changing from 1st - 2nd, would do 70 in 2nd. Needed a gearbox out of a DC2 Type R. Paid around 4 grand for it with 55K miles. Great fun, despite the gearbox, would do low 40's mpg if driven sensibly, off cam.

Well, write it down boy ......
There's a classic car show this weekend near me at a stately home. The owners have to pay to display their cars, and Joe Public has to pay to get in. There are various mumblings on social media about this. Is it normal to pay to display?
Me? I just stand at the entrance (at the end of a long driveway) and watch them all go in.

I did a lot of classic car shows in the ‘90s and it was normally a token sum (a pound or two) for owners to enter their cars for display, sometimes free.

How much are they asking nowadays?

I think it's £7.50 to display and £15 for Joe Public. I showed my kit car at the same place in the 80's and it was free for exhibitors.

Next Sunday, there's a show, of 'reasonable size', on the outskirts of Wakefield
It's within easy reach of the A61 (Wakefield - Barnsley section), the A628 (Pontefract - Barnsley), & A638 (Wakefield - Doncaster)

It's in Walton, adjacent to sections of the old (abandoned/filled in/built upon - at that point) Barnsley Canal

I didn't get there last year, but here's a few from 2021 (26 images)
I'm not sure if I'm riding over, or driving over, it depends what else I have to do on that day?
