Interesting. Worked with a woman once who sneezed like a cat. She said she had picked it up from her parents, possibly particularly her mum. Seem to remember that she said her mum thought sneezing impolite unladylike or something and so had created this somewhat repressed sounding sneeze. Sounded odd to me. Don't know if she had any other hangups.
