Hi, i am new here. i have been a cyclist for the last 15 years.
i currently use an xt spec Orange rigid c-16r, which i love to bits. My wife has an Orange Clockwork anniversary which she has owned for 12 years now.
Recently it become apparrent that we no longer ride off road, and our mountain steeds where proving a little uncomfortable on some of the longer rides we do. so i recently bought my wife a Specialized Dolce Comp road bike. Fast of what, especially after years on mountain bikes!
I am not saying we are converted (even though i am currently ordering a Cube race bike), but i think it is good to have the best of both worlds.
nice to see a good friendly forum.

Hi everybody.
I am an old gent (74) returning to cycling after 45 years out of the saddle. After 5 months and 1500 miles in the legs I am really beginning to enjoy myself. Average spin is 15 to 25 miles a day 4/5 days a week and I will be upping this soon as I always get back home (up a hill) feeling I could go and do it all over again right away ; this tells me I probably should ! Not too happy about joining a club as the ones around me are all fairly competitive and I have no wish to be embarrassed or be an embarrassment. But this will not stop me doing a few Sportifs this summer ( at the 50 kilometre level). Where am I ? South coast of Ireland. What do I ride ? Specialized Allez. Keep the rubber on the road. Peter

Hello there. Thought I should introduce myself as I am new to the forum. I am a former 20 stone fatty turned fitness freak having lost 8.5 stone in the last year. I am predominantly a runner but am pushing on with the cycling this year too.

I am doing a London to Paris ride in July as well as a couple of sportives before that (one in dartmoor and one in the New Forest) and also combining my running and cycling and throwing a bit of swimming in there too to do 3 triathlons. Oh and I am running a marathon in May and 2 halves before that. See told you I was a fitness freak!

Bike-wise I am lucky to have 3 lovely bits of kit in a 2012 Specialized Tarmac Comp, a 2011 Specialized Epic Elite and a 2012 Genesis Day One Alfine. I get out most weekends and am working on building the distance slowly - yesterdays 43miler was my longest so far.

I live North West of London and tend to ride in the Chilterns and surrounding area but am in the lookout for any recommended rides!

Looking forward to some enlightening conversations on here

Hi all - newish to the forum, joined 6 months ago and shamefully never got round to posting. Commuting regularly for the last 3 years, but was just getting into sportives last year until I got hit by a car and broke my collar bone, so the whole summer was wiped out. back on the bike after resting up properly and looking forward to spring and longer rides. Cheers Downhills

Hello, new to the forum but looking forward to having a look around. I'm 46 and live near Doncaster in Yorkshire and started doing a bit of cycling last summer for cardio to go with my weight training and as my fitness started to increase I started to enjoy getting out on the bike more.
My teenage son has now started riding and has claimed my mountain bike as I've just purchased a Viking sports hybrid for myself and can't wait for it to get a bit milder so that I can get out on it. Until then I'm keeping up exercise for biking on a stationary bike indoors.

Hello everyone new to the forum but I have been reading for a while. Had a MTB for many a year and love cycling. Due to moving workplace I have a lovely 18 mile round trip commute for work and will be embarking on a Road Bike when it arrives. Cant wait for a new me as I have not done enough cycling in the last two years!!!!! Just bought a Felt F95 in monster green has anyone had any experience with this bike?

Evening all, just signed up here, as I'm about to purchase my first road bike, partly due to wanting to improve fitness, and partly to an over enthusiastic friend helping my move from fat tires to skinny ones! Just waiting he few days for a Specialized Allez Elite to arrive at my local shop...

I'm in east Manchester, so quite handy for getting into the Peak District, which I plan to do often.

Hello,

So you've signed-up, got your user account, now all you need to do is get posting .... ah, um, er, What do I say?

Well, it's dead easy - just say Hello and tell us a little bit about yourself and whereabouts you're from (so we can invite you along to rides!!)

Believe me, once you get that first post under your belt you'll be off!

My name's Shaun by the way, and I own and operate CycleChat.

If you need any help or advice on using the forums, or want to ask a question but don't want to do it publicly - just send me a PM (private message).

Hope you enjoy, and welcome to CycleChat

Cheers,
Shaun

Just signed up here and am eager to get in amongst the cycling world once i've built my bike - I'm currently looking at a Cervelo frame on a bike stand and have collected a few parts to hopefully create something i'll be proud to ride. First off is to install the crank set (double Tiagra hollow tech) into the bottom bracket and am a little bit hesitant as i want to make sure i get it right. Any advice from those out there who do this on a regular basis ( i promise to post a photo of my creation upon completion)

Hello, I am Alice. I recently set up a new cycling club called Passion for Pedalling. First ride was on Sunday in Richmond park, was fun and am in the process of arranging some new upcoming rides. Quite new to arranging rides so could do with some tips. I have a lovely new Garmin Edge 800 which is a fantastic help. Would love to know if anyone has plotted any good rides on Garmin Connect that I can steal!!! thank you
