Hi ,Duke !
hallo Daniel, andHello!
I'm Daniel from Wellingborough. I havent done much formal cycling in the past, but this year, me and a friend are looking at cycling 1,000 miles for Help For Heroes.
I joined this forum to get more support on technique ect.
If you want to know more about our campaign, check out our website at: www.two-wheelers.co.cc
Cheers
hallo Daniel, and
Really good website, well done to both of you
Hi Shaun,Hello,
So you've signed-up, got your user account, now all you need to do is get posting .... ah, um, er, What do I say?
Well, it's dead easy - just say Hello and tell us a little bit about yourself and whereabouts you're from (so we can invite you along to rides!!)
Believe me, once you get that first post under your belt you'll be off!
My name's Shaun by the way, and I own and operate CycleChat.
If you need any help or advice on using the forums, or want to ask a question but don't want to do it publicly - just send me a PM (private message).
Hope you enjoy, and welcome to CycleChat
Cheers,
Shaun
Hello everyone
I have recently started cycling again after 20 years or so. I last rode a bike when I was about 12 and had a bit of a nasty accident, was off school for many many weeks and that kinda put me off bikes for a while I live in Switzerland, and everyone cycles here it seems, lots of cycle paths, drivers seem to actually give you a bit of room when they are passing and lots of nice places to cycle to. At the end of last summer I bought a bike thinking it would be fun to get a childs seat on the back and take my 3 year old son places, that ended with a couple of crashes and him saying "can we just get the bus please". I was out about 4 times since I bought the bike last year. However, spring has arrived and I am ready to get back out there. Problem is, I have no clue about basic things (hence my incoming post in the beginners section).
Edit - oh noes, hoping it was ok to post here or should I have made a new post?
Hi Shaun,
I am just coming back to cycle chat for a couple of things really. More of that in a bit.
Based in Ipswich Suffolk, I have been a self employed bike mechanic for over 30 years and spend far too long fixing other peoples bikes and not enough time riding my own.
I am involved with re-cycle in colchester, collecting donated bikes, and BEN in South Africa, also involved with cycle-ipswich which is a pressure and advocacy group.
The two main things I like about cycle chat are the technical pages and the for sale /wanted.
Currently we are planning a ride in South Africa to raise awareness and funds for Bicycling Empowerment Network, re-cycle and to get a Bicycle Empowerment Centre established in a winelands town with which we have connections.
I have a whole load of personal bikes which we need to sell to help fund this endeavour, perhaps some of your members will be interested.
Can you explain how I earn privileges to post 'for sales' as I cant find it yet??
Some info about what we are doing will be here.
Best wishes,
Kevin and Noelle.
