Hi everyone,

I'm a student at Loughborough University in my final year of a product design degree; as part of this I must redesign an existing product or invent something completely new. I have decided to focus on Trailer Bikes and, in particular, improving the tow bar concept used by the Trail-Gator.

I like the fact that the Trail-Gator adds flexibility and allows the child to have freedom, as well giving them the option to be hooked on when tired. Has anyone had any particularly bad experiences with this product?

I've heard and read that they can be really awkward to fit; is there a particular aspect of the design that is most troublesome?

I have managed to get my hands on a second hand Trail-Gator and, having looked closely at it, feel that it actually appears quite cheap - anyone agree? Has anyone had any concerns over the quality of it when in use?

If you have any further input unrelated to the questions above then i would be hugely grateful!

Hello My names Gordon (feels like im at an AA meeting) just started riding a bike after years of weight gain, I ride a Specialized Hardrock now which i brought off a friend who got it through the cycle to work Scheme but after riding it once he decided cycling wasnt for him so i brought it off him for £150.

I have tried jogging but as im very overweight i find the pressure on my legs going both up and down hill very painful at the moment so i thought cycling would ease this (hopefully) we thats enough about me i just wanted to say hello to everyone before i start reading the threads.

Hi new to cycle chat, I'm from Co.Durham which is in the northeast of England for those who don't know! Only been cycling for a couple of years but love it! Just recovering from being knocked off my bike by a car (fortunately no serious injuries, unfortunately can't say the same of my bike, RIP) Looking forward to taking delivery of my new Cube Agree Race and getting out again!

Hello. I'm a member of Leicestershire & Rutland CTC. I was looking for the online version of our district's magazine, also called "Cycle Chat" when I came across this site.
Anyone in Derby seen a blue Cannondale Tourer? I had mine pinched from outside the Brunswick about 6 weeks ago.

Hi all.

I live in sunny south London. Only been cycling for about three months but have been getting right into it. Been to every Critical Mass that I can get to and even managed to complete a night ride from London to Brighton recently. Also looking to get on a cheap/free mechanics course. Still getting my fitness up to scratch but am always interested to hear of any rides going on.
Only thing is please excuse my spelling and grammar as they ain't good, I blame dyslexia and being a bit thick haha.

Hi guys and gals

I've just found and joined the forum. My name is Stu and I own a Carrera Kraken hardtail mountain bike and a 2010 Cube Agree GTC Pro Carbon Road bike. I mostly use the road bike these days, well ever since I got it a year ago I have been addicted to the road and sadly my hardtail has not been used. I did however clean it up and service it at the weekend there and plan on getting back out on it for some fun riding.

I live in East Kilbride just outside Glasgow.

I'm not a member of any clubs, I just cycle for fun, fitness and commuting to work. I work for a bike company running their website but I won't mention the name of it at the moment as this is my first post and don't want people to think I'm trying to promote it. Lol

Already had a good wee look around while waiting for my registration to be confirmed by admin and like what I see.

I have a personal blog I started up as a bit of fun just on bike related stuff and ride data etc but again I will not post any links at this stage.

Look forward to contributing to the forum.

Hi Gordon

Good to see you've got into cycling and I'm sure you'll enjoy it. Cycling is for people of all shapes and sizes and the most important thing is that you enjoy it. You'll find that when your out on your bike that fellow cyclists acknowledge you as cyclists respect each other for getting of their backsides and out in the fresh air.

Anyway have fun with the bike.

Hi Shaun,

Posted a couple of things (I think anyway) already and spoken to a couple of other members (sent them messages).

I have just started road cycling since september on a fab boardman hybrid, love it to bits cant get out enough. Not a excellent time of year to start I know but will use the spin bikes at the gym in bad weather.

Anyway, the old man has a boardman too and has been cycling for about a year (he says I am not slowing him down too much at all - looks like all those hours spent doing back to back aerobics and on the cross trainer paid off).

Got a bit addicted to cycling or would be if no kids. I find myself looking at all the cyclist I pass bikes and gear and imagining how good it would be to cycle on some of the roads I drive on.

Dont dream about cycling yet, although I prob will tonight.

Bye for now and thanks for setting up this web site.
