Hi. I nearly put this in the wrong place .. the cafe!

OK My name's Jazz. I enjoy Jazz music.

I teach in a school.. I ride to work occasionally on my Raleigh hybrid bike.

Not sure what else to say. I shall browse on the fora first. Someone I met out riding today told me about this site and thought I may find it fun to read.

Just a quick hello

Hi to all,
found this forum to-day on Google, liked the look of it and decided to join in. I have just purchased a Trek T30 through the cycle to work scheme and I am very pleased with it. As well as cycling to work I intend to go further afield on my days off as there are some nice places nearby which are cycle friendly.
I'm prepared to receive some flak due to my occupation as a trucker, however, I wish to make it clear that I always treat cyclists with respect and never threaten their safety.
I'm looking forward to reading the posts on the forum and making some contributions myself. Be in touch soon, bye for now.

Hello!

I am Mark. I bought a bike last week after not riding since I was a kid really. 36 years old and me and the GF have decided that cycling is the way to keep fit and enjoy the countryside. Rode 13 miles last weekend and found it really tough, but we were in Cumbria and there's not a lot of flat there.
Anyway, my super-cheap Raleigh AT10 has been christened and it survived my ham-fisted gear changes and we're going to go out again on Sunday!

CycleChat seems like a really friendly place from what I've seen so far and hopefully my stupid newbie questions won't cause anyone to roll their eyes too hard :-)

Hello

I'm new too - just got my "cycle to work" bike a fortnight ago and my bum is *killing* me. Have just went out and bought a gel saddle to see if that helps - I'm in major pain!

Hoping to cycle to work most days, but days like yesterday put me right off - a combination of lack of fitness/uphill 90% of the way and head on wind for the entire journey didn't have me coming off going "whoo hoo"!!!! Oh and the pain in the bum wasn't too pleasant either!

My poor bum!

Wotcha! Another newbie here - been bike-commuting again for the last 18 months or so, signed up 'cos I decided I needed advice, having got my 2nd puncture in 2 weeks. I was hoping solid tyres had come on a bit since I sold my previous bike, which was about 40 years ago. Well, you can hope...

Nice place y'all got here!

Hello all,

I just joined tonight.

I have been cycling the 40 minute journey to work on my Shogun 'mont blanc' for the last 3 days.

I bought this bike 6 years ago to travel to work (at the same place) in the evenings after looking after my children during the day.

I did this for a year, then transfered to days and got a lift into work after dropping my children off at school.

Other than an odd trip to the park, I have not cycled during this time.

I am over weight and under fit but have had a passion for cycling since I received my Raleigh Honey 3 speed when I was 10!

Unfortunatly, I don't know much about bikes, I'm not sure mine is any good! ButI want to learn.

Love Violet.
