Hello to all, especially anyone else from the Colne Valley, Huddersfield, West Yorkshire.

Hoping to do some weekend rides in the area with other CC members in the coming year.

Mark.
Hi Mark.

There are quite a few CC members in your area. I sometimes ride out your way, but more often head out towards the Dales or the Forest of Bowland.

I organise a lot of CC forum rides from Hebden Bridge and if you'd like to pop over here and join us for one, you'd be welcome.

My rides tend to be 40-60 miles (sometimes 100 miles in the summer if we get good weather and I'm feeling fit). They are very hilly and scenic, but the average speeds are low. Usually a good cafe stop at about 1/2 - 2/3 distance.

Hello all,

Just signed up.

I am in the process of moving from MTB to road riding. While I save up for a decent road specific machine I am on the Gary Fisher MTB. I have put slick tyres on it and it is better, but roll on my first proper bike. Currently looking at Specialized Allez Elite. Must get saving.

Hello everyone, not used to these new-fangled chat forums, I usually have them in pubs where alcohol fumes turn me into a lyrical poet, but it's too early for booze.
Am now a Senior Citizen, or Old Git, whichever you prefer, but still working and intend to do so till 70 to help Mr Osborne with his deficit.
Used to belong to Labour Party but left in protest at unions hyjacking the election and installing Ed, not the Better Brother.
Been cycling 5 years, done LEJOG, Channel to the Med, Switzerland-Brest and have set my sights on Mont Ventoux this September, before I become too decrepit.I enjoy the Good Life and have the shape to prove it, so climbing is not my forte. Would appreciate advice/information on hills/rides in Surrey/Kent/Sussex to simulate the 16 miles climb so that I can improve my uphill cycling and do not do a Tom Simpson on the fateful day.

Mudguard

Hi, My names James, I work for a company where we are trying to encourage the corporate world to provide sufficient facilities for all us in the north who want to cycle to work. I love cycling and until having my bike stolen would go everywhere on it! Looks like i will be walking for the next few weeks before i save enough money to buy another bike!

All the correct facilities are provided in the south (especially london) for everybody to commute but in the north we dont even have anywhere to park our bikes most of the time! So anybody who want to talk about this give me a shout.

Hi folks

just signed up - though I've been reading the forum for a few days.

I bought a road bike in October although I haven't been out on it a great deal due to the weather.

I've just sold my car and equipped my old MTB with mudguards to commute. Only 2 miles each way, but on the way to work it's all uphill.

I'm based in Aberdeen - so I'd be glad to hear from anyone else in this part of the country.

Hi All

Just joined CC as I see so many of you have done the Dunwich Dynamo, I'm gonna do it this year!

Did the Norwich 50 last year and finished off the season with a 105 miles in a day. Just got back on the bike and oh! the winter break has taken it's toll on my leggy's!

So, it's back to putting in the miles and doing some night time riding too.

Anyone in the Norwich/Lingwood area want a bit of company then we could sort something out.

P.S. Just read that last line, I meant company out on a ride, that just made me sound like some sort of freak

Hi Everybody,

Just joined and to set the scene as far as I am concerned, I have JUST started riding again after 2.5 yrs off with arthritis in my hands.

Even then I have had to go down the road of buying a MoultonTSR as it has the best front suspension for my hands. I know it's not the best thing for everything, but it sure suits me!

I also have, as a project, a 3/4 finished Moulton F frame, 1965 model and a cheapo recumbent, a Bike E.

So I suppose I am a small wheel convert!.

Regards

Ian B

Hello, newbie here, just started riding to work as a new years resolution, 12 miles each way into central London. I have enjoyed it so much that I have dumped the MTB and bought a Trek Hybrid, so no going back now.

Oliver, All the very best wishes, of course you deserve your new bike and the lady deserves her new shoes too. Hope that you have many happy years zooming to the Co-op. You are not being silly, it must be easier to travel from up in Scotland to down in Devon, I'm sure that you can freewheel all the way.

Hello, Stretch here, I've come here following the death of the guardian talkboards, there were a few of us there used to compare commutes, rides, pass on tips etc. for the past 11 years or so. It's all gone now, wiped from history!

So I'm looking for a new home, it's time to move on. I've got a fleet of bikes; mostly I ride my Surly Crosscheck fixie in and out of Manchester 12.5 miles each way for commuting, and have a CUBE Ltd Race that I ride on the hills when I get a minute.

Do you have area sections for people comparing routes etc?
