Hello everyone - great to see new faces around the place and by all means get stuck in and start posting away.

Remember, no one is going to bite your head off, and it really doesn't matter if it's been asked before - we all have to start somewhere.

And if you don't have any cycling stuff you want to chat about right now, then pop into the Cafe for a natter about - well - pretty much anything really ...

If you've got thick skin and fancy giving the locals a good run for their money, pop into Politics and Life for a good argument debate or two. They need some fresh meat in there, so go on, challenge them!!!

Welcome to everyone though ... you all make it the great place it is.

Cheers,
Shaun

Hello there,

Okay, so you've signed-up, got your user account, now all you need to do is get posting .... ah, um, er, What do I say?

Well, it's dead easy - just say Hello - believe me, once you get that first post under your belt you'll be off!

My name's Shaun by the way, and I own and operate CycleChat.

If you need any help or advice on using the forums, or want to ask a question but don't want to do it publicly - just send me a PM (private message).

Hope you enjoy, and welcome to CycleChat

Cheers,
Shaun

Hi Im new to cycle chat. Just started road biking about 6 weeks ago after hurting my achilles heel running, and now hooked. First bought a second hand Boss Peleton and now purchasing a new claud butler vicenza as i want to enjoy it to the full. Doing around 110 miles a week, 18 mile rides roughly. Wanting to find out if anyone who lives near to me who wants to share rides on weekends(live in Brough,East Yorks)

I reckon Commuting and/or Cafe if you're looking to get lots of eyes on it.

Cheers,

Howdy folks. I'm from SoCal, more specifically Los Angeles. I came across this site by landing on an interesting thread re the spiritual side of cycling. I've done a few brevets, the longest was 400km, and toyed with the idea of PBP. I'll be 71 in 2011 so postponing the attempt practically equates to a decision to never do it. But I think I'm okay with that. Someone in the aforementioned thread said he liked the French word "flaneur". I do too but recognize I'm very goal-driven. I'm looking forward to participating in this forum. It's obvious that there's a large repository of knowledge and an attitude of helpfulness here. Good combination. Cheers!

Hello, I am really new to this and haven't ridden a bike for years so need lots and lots of help and advice on buying a new one. I fancy a hybrid as i live in the country and am surrounded by interesting trails and shortcuts. I'm 6'4" so need a big bike. Have around £500 to spend. Any suggestions?

Hi all,

I've just got back into cycling for the last 5 months after a 20 year break.

I'm from North Wilts area, and have been training quite hard for the last 5 months. I've recently completed my first Charity ride from Chippenham to Lands End (231 miles) and hope to do LEJOG in May next year.

Curerently riding an MTB, but hope to get an Orbea Orca or similar. Doing really well on my MTB though. I do about 150 miles a week, sometimes more. Average long ride is about 50 miles (17-18mph), but sometimes do upto 70-80 miles on a Sunday. Shorter rides on weekdays I do an Average of 15 miles a day (19-21mph)

I use Runkeeper too which has helped motivate me with the stats it gives.

Hope to Join a Local club at some point.

Cheers

J.

Crumbs, I'm feeling all shy now!

Anyhow, having become fairly experienced at wasting my time on one cycling forum, I looked out of the window, decided it wasn't my kind of cycling weather, and thought, why not start wasting my time on 2 forums.

So anyway, hello all. There's a couple of usernames I recognise from elsewhere - so I don't feel like a complete newbie.

Chris
