Hello all. I came on here to rant about rude pedestrians, but I don't think that's allowed is it?

Greetings, Spesh.

The Allez is a decent bike and Northern Ireland is a fabulous place to the riding it. I was meant to be over there staying in Balintoy for the NW200 next weekend but had a small hiccup with the planning.

Hi thanks for the welcome, it;s a pity your going to miss the nw200 i think it; going to be a cracker this year, they have made changes at mathers cross to try and slow the bikes down, stuart easton on the swann honda set a new speed trap record on tuesday evening going through the trap at 204mph,balintoy is a lovely part of the country nice scenery and friendly people, i might get down to the races on saturday as it;s only a 25 min drive from where i live.

25 minutes! You lucky chap.

A couple of years ago, I think it was Plater who first broke the 200mph barrier. He obviously heard about it over his radio or from the banners and the next lap, he was "only" clocked at 199.5mph but he had one hand off the bars doing a victory v. Good times.

Better times than the last one I went to, in 2008. I'm sure Robert Dunlop's death has brought on the changes to Mathers Cross but I wonder if that part of the track will be the same. It was a glorious off-camber corner with the riders having to pick their knees up over the kerbing. We always used to watch from Black Bridge and Mathers, walking between the two is a very easy stroll but they moved the barriers back a long way at Mathers Cross so we pretty much stayed at Black Bridge last time.

Still got some nice pix, though.

Hello everyone! I have a bike for sale and I thought this community would be a good place to do it. Is there a vigorous marketplace here?

I wonder if that part of the track will be the same, no they widened the corner and made a tarmac chicane probably spelt wrong lol much like a lay by on a major road with right hand entry, they recon it will probably slow the riders down to about 30 to 40mph, kinda spoilt that part of the course, but if it makes it safer for all the riders then all the better, sadly it's a bit too late for robert dunlop and mark young who lost his life last year while competing in the 250 race.

Watching on the Beeb's live feed. Unfortunately, their helicopter is grounded and that seems to have been their only plan for covering much of the circuit.

Weather's not looking the best, Supersport about to start.

discovering a new world

Completely new to this chat forum - and to any chat forum for that matter.

Have had a Raleigh mountain bike for 12 years. No complaints, and use it for lanes and back roads. But have discovered hybrids (ok, so not new, but I just never looked for a new bike) when my husband bought a Bianchi.

I've got books on Bianchi, Ridgeback, Marin and Trek - don't know where to start - but have realised that facing a 12-day bike ride to mid-France might be easier with a different bike. Don't really want to spend more than £500 and am tempted by the Bianchi Camaleonte. Is this the best way to go?

It would probably be better(for more viewers) if you posted this on the "Welcome Mat" or maybe the Mods/Admin could do it for you? ;)

Im leaving england to set up a cycling retreat in Lanzarote!

Hello everyone

I am a keen cyclist and have decided to leave England to renovate and open a new cycling retreat in the heart of Lanzarote, Canary Islands.

The location is central, the surroundings quiet and beautiful and the property is a 200 year old traditional Canarian Finca, which is presently being restored. The Finca comprises 8 twin/double rooms all with ensuite bathrooms. The rooms are large enough to accommodate an extra bed so the Finca can sleep 24 people comfortably if you are interested in a group booking. A professional bike provider will deliver bikes to the door and there will be a bike station for personal bike maintenance and bike racks available inside the rooms for added security.

The accommodation has a Moorish influence and there is an internal plunge pool in the courtyard. There are 2000 square metres of landscaped gardens to explore with areas to relax, hammocks and sheltered spots for complete relaxation. The cost is 40 pounds per person per night and includes full continental breakfast with fresh local produce of cold meats, fresh eggs and cheese, locally baked breads and fresh coffee, fruit and cereals.

Is this something your may be interested in? Please let me know if you would like more details and I will keep you informed with updates. I will be taking bookings from January 2011.

Please feel free to ask any questions, there is absolutely no obligation or commitment, I am merely gauging an interest in something I feel very passionate about, I have been travelling to lanzarote for the past fifteen to cycle and know the island well.

Thank you very much for your time.

Hello everybody! I have decided to start riding my bike to work. I live only about 1.6 miles from work. I have been doing this for about a month and a half and am feeling great! I look forward to reading about you and listing to your advice.
