Hello all,

Screen name is Cyphrex (Cipher (Hidden message) and Cryptex(Da Vinci invention) combined), real name is Jason. I'm from the Austin Tx area, and have only begun to ride again. Mostly around my neighborhood to burn calories and lose weight (used to drink 6 Dr. Peppers a day, now none). I used to ride a 5 speed MTB as a kid and recently purchased a Specialized Rock-hopper MTB from a friend and am putting road slicks on it and outfitting to ride day or night. I plan to ride in a few events next year as I am badly out of shape and need the exercise before I take on a true ride. I am an IT technician where I work and love the wind in my face and the speed I can generate by my own muscles after a mentally grueling day. I have been watching Global Cycling Network YouTube videos and reading everything I can find on more efficient riding and gearing ratios where I have learned to use my gears more effectively to conserve energy riding(5 speed, riding out of saddle would bump selector next to stem back to higher gears; so never used them). I would like to be-able to cycle to work some day which is over 20 miles but since my job requires using my own vehicle to move equipment, I don't think this will be feasible.

Hello,

So you've signed-up, got your user account, now all you need to do is get posting .... ah, um, er, What do I say?

Well, it's dead easy - just say Hello and tell us a little bit about yourself and whereabouts you're from (so we can invite you along to rides!!)

Believe me, once you get that first post under your belt you'll be off!

My name's Shaun by the way, and I own and operate CycleChat.

If you need any help or advice on using the forums, or want to ask a question but don't want to do it publicly - just send me a PM (private message).

Hope you enjoy, and welcome to CycleChat

Cheers,
Shaun
Hello Shaun and everyone. Im new here. From the US actually. Was hoping some can help me identify an old phillips apollo that we want to restore. I will post pictures when I recieve permission.

This isn't my first post, I don't even think I noticed this section upon joining. Anyway - I'm James (as you can probably tell from my username ;) ) and I'm from Doncaster (specifically Askern). I'm relatively new to cycling and ride a Scott Speedster 40 (2015).

Greetings, some of you may know me from yacf. I've not looked at CycleChat for many a year but I know a few people on the Lowlands tour thats going on at the moment, seen some photos on Facebook of folks having a top time so it prompted me to take a peek over the fence.

Anyhow, hello!

PS - I see it says "Well-known Member" under my avatar! No idea why!

So i am initially looking for possible advice on set up, riding tips etc. Fear not, i will post more in the coming weeks!
