Hi I am Geoff 61 year old retired and have a 7 year old Dawes Saratoga Hybrid which hasn't had a huge amount of usage but more so this year as desire to increase overall fitness through cross training with running and lots of golf.
Caught the Brompton bug and new build arrives this week Orange and Black H6l - mainly as a lifestyle tool - taking away on day trips and hopefully on cruise ship holidays.

Hello you lot. My name's Davie, approachin 52, haven't done any exerted cycling since 1988. Always enjoyed offroad n now lookin to get into it again so bought a saracen powertrax frame with seized bb for 99p from eBay. BB already removed no problem. Just need to build it now. Well, it's dead easy - just say Hello and tell us a little bit about yourself and whereabouts you're from (so we can invite you along to rides!!)

Believe me, once you get that first post under your belt you'll be off!

If you need any help or advice on using the forums, or want to ask a question but don't want to do it publicly - just send me a PM (private message).

Hi, My name is David and I live in Iowa. I am new to the cycling world but so far I enjoy it. I have a problem with balance so I got a trike. I also have a sciatic nerve problem so I got a recumbent. I'm out getting my endurance up when it is not raining and hope to do some long rides eventually. I hope to learn a few things here and put them to good use.

Hello.
I am looking for some helpful advise and thoughts on buying a new bike.
i wouldn't say i was new to cycling i have an old Dawes giro that i paid 75 pounds for about 8 years ago as i needed a road bike to complete a challenge i had been set, (cycle from Suffolk to Paris) not wanting to shy away from this challenge and look silly in front of friends i said, Yes of course, A nice intro into road cycling i thing, although parts of my body were not in agreance. a quick stop to buy cycle shorts with padding after the first day. Anyway a few less ridiculous rides later I feel the need for a new bike. I am looking at Ribbles sportive 7005 (an alloy frame) and the sportive racing Di2 carbon frame. My question is, can anyone give advise or help on choosing between the two? having never ridden a carbon bike, how are they in comparison? I am looking to put the ultegra group set on which i believe to be good and a pair of fulcrum wheels, i think this should make for a good bike on either frame?
Hope this wasn't too much for first post? Sorry..
