Oops, I went crazy and posted my own thread in the forum! Keen you see ^_^

Me: 50 year old child and glad about that. Possible 2nd mid-life (cycling) crisis - Recumbent bike bought.

Started life on a Raleigh Chopper - the ONLY bike I could ever wheelie really well, odd that.

Only claims - 100 miles in a long day in my 20's and cycling with Chris Walker (of motorbike fame) a few times around Nottingham.

Used to help out with & really enjoy guided cycle rides with Stockton county council more years ago than I care to remember.

Enjoy looking back on the many 'fun' MTB races I used to do, Boltby bash, Hamsterley forest, Kielder, Lightwater valley (when closed in winter!) & others

Happy Days

Hello,

So you've signed-up, got your user account, now all you need to do is get posting .... ah, um, er, What do I say?

Well, it's dead easy - just say Hello and tell us a little bit about yourself and whereabouts you're from (so we can invite you along to rides!!)

Believe me, once you get that first post under your belt you'll be off!

My name's Shaun by the way, and I own and operate CycleChat.

If you need any help or advice on using the forums, or want to ask a question but don't want to do it publicly - just send me a PM (private message).

Hope you enjoy, and welcome to CycleChat

Cheers,
Shaun
Greetings,
New to the the "gang"-doing the Tour of the Hopfields this coming Sunday from Gravesend. Hopefully a little less windy!
Looking forward to absorbing your words of wisdom!

OK first post on the welcome mat.
Hello all. To be honest have read so many thread lately feel I am on old timer.
Just bought PX London Road after some sage advice I read on a forum about buying for need not just the shiniest. If that was here then Thanks whoever it was.
However still regret not going for full carbon CX with hydrolics. Cannot admit yet that I am not still 18 and able to play in the mud with my mates!!
Anyway Hello to all

Hello All!

I've not ridden a bike for nearly 30 years but this year I finally decided to buy one and get out and about on it (as well as getting fitter).

I've been agonising for a few weeks over which bike to get, seemingly ending up back where I started at the end of each day. I finally decided that enough was enough and the important thing was to get out there ride. Therefore I've purchased a Giant New Escape City Hybrid (which looks to have almost the same specs as the New Escape 2, but with rack and mudguards) and I'm expecting to pick it up this coming week. I'm both excited and a little nervous at the prospect!

Anyway, this forum has been an invaluable source of information and I hope you won't be too put off by my inane questions as I experience life on the road/towpath on two wheels

Hello! I'm from Bournemouth. I'm 16 and as long as I can remember I was always cycling. I'm Hungarian and I moved to England in January 2013. My nickname is Matex9990 and my real name is Mate. Yeah I'm a good mate for everyone . I joined the forum to get advice about buying a new bike, but I will probably stick around after I got what I come for as it seems to be a really friendly community. Well off for forming now. Enjoy your day

Hi All,

I'm Nathan and to be *extremely* brief:

- I don't have a bike;
- I haven't cycled since I was a kid;
- I'm 10 stone overweight and I've finally 'snapped'; it's time to make a big change!

I've joined because I'm planning on a charity fundraiser and awareness raiser - lose my excess baggage and cycle 240 miles around all the campuses of the University I work for; meeting people and talking about mental health. I'd also like to dedicate my ride to a colleague who recently passed away; and my intended route passes through her village. I've had my fair share of mental illness and it as well as medication have been contributing factors to my gradual weight gain over a number of years - so tackling this issue as the focus of my bike ride feels like the natural thing to do.

This is a huge project and I'm taking the time to look at your threads on 'What Bike?' and 'Touring' (is 240 miles over 4/5 days even classed as a tour!?!); so any advice and support would be hugely appreciated!

240 miles over 4/5 days sounds a lot like a tour to me.:okay: Good luck with it and you'll find lots of helpful people on here to answer all the questions you are bound to have.

Hi everyone.

My name is Shaun and I'm based in SE London.
Just over a fortnight ago I got a bike off a mate and started commuting to work and I love it.
Was originally only going to cycle once a week, but I have actually cycled every day (bar one) since I got the bike.

I haven't owned a bike for over 2 decades although I have made multiple trips on the Boris bikes over the last few years.

Have been lurking for over a week now so figured I might as well sign up.
