Hi

Not riden a bike for about 6 years, sold a road racer to my nephew, after suffering from lower back problems, still got an old rare Nigel Dean mountain bike that I bought in Barton upon Humber over 30 years ago. I'm thinking of getting a new mountain bike from Halfords a Boardman mountain bike sports Ht650b limited edition. Would like some feed back, is it worth getting, not to much off road these days but may do some down some of the farm track.

Any feed back would be agreat help.

Hi all, I bike mostly to work and back, but want to do some more fun bike adventures as well - will try the Dun Run this year, and planning to do more singletrack mtb riding as well, the few times I've tried have been great!

Is that a no to the brand off bike as well, or just Halfords
Halfords get a slating on this forum there are good shops and bad shops . I bought mine from halfords and can't complain . Broadmans are good bikes . read the thread posted and make your own mind up I believe its a about someone who self built a bike he had bought from halfords and it went wrong

Hi and :welcome: to @Rcf and everyone else who has joined recently.:hello:

@Rcf: looking at those photos, your saddle is set very low. Are you particularly short in the leg?

As others will confirm, I have a bit of a bee in my bonnet about getting saddle height right. Here is some advice I gave to a new member a little while back:
An easy way to get it somewhere near right is to set it so that your leg is just about straight with your heel on the pedal at the bottom of the stroke. The leg will then have just about the right amount of bend in it when pushing with the ball of the foot and it can be fine tuned to suit from there.

Went to Halfords on Sunday looking at the bikes while the wife was getting a new tyre valve, which the did not have, so today called in at Sherwoods in Brigg to ge the valve and ended up buying a Claud Butler Cape Wrath 2 2014, was £499 but was on sale for £399. I was looking at the Boardman sports mountain bike HT360b le for the £499 , but think I got a bargen.

Been out on the new bike twice, first a ride round the village about 3 miles just over, and a second ride 8 miles, wrists ache a bit, but should soon get ussd to it, no other problems yet, might go out again after my meal. Hopefully start to lose some weight.
