HELLO to everyone.
I am very happy to have been accepted into the Cycle Chat family and look forward to a long and prosperous journey together. I am a cycle virgin ( if there such a thing ! ), the last time I ever rode a push bike was in the sixties, must have been about then as a comic strip call the Q bikes ( or Bikers ?? ) inspired me to tear around the streets of Kings Cross but then stopped that sort of thing when I join the army at the age of 14.
Now at the tender age of 58 I find the sudden urge to get back onto a bike again. This came about as I needed another method of cross training to compliment my running, I wish to run a marathon, I was given an old Sorrento Diamond Back bike promptly jumped on the thing and rode 12 miles in under an hour. That was that now I want more!
Don't think I want to say any more at the moment other wise I will have to send you all a virtual pointy stick to wake you up^_^.
Ride safe

Hello everyone,

I used to cycle quite a lot, about 2 or 3 years ago. Then we had our first child and cycling took a back seat, today however I found that my motorcycle has dodgy suspension seals and has leaked oil all over my forks, brakes and looks a right old mess. Not something I can afford to fix right now. So, I looked at the silver lining, its a good kick in the rear end to get back into my cycling. It is something I have been meaning to start again for some time.

I have two bikes, a Trek mountain bike and a Cube road bike. Both fairly middle range when I bought them. I weigh quite a bit more than I did when I stopped cycling some time ago, so will start out with the MTB, though as it's sturdier I think it might be my mainstay for going to and from work the 15 mile journey each way will be a shock to the system to start with, though I am sure that the view through the countryside will more than make up for that.

So, anyway. Enough about me, just wanted to say 'Hi!' see you around the forums.

Hello All!!!

Have just joined.

From Hertfordshire.
Done a few 30 mile rides arounds Hertfordshire on a Road bike, looking into getting more involved into cycling, perhaps joining a club?!
Mainly fitness related, but I do love getting out and about on 2 wheels.

Also looking to restore a fixie to it's former glory, as it's currently sat in my garage with 2 punctures and a load of rust!

Hello all
I’m Mel. I’m here to read various advices and tips from fellow cyclists and perhaps find cycling buddies in the area. I cycle to work 2-3 days a week, it’s a 21 miles return trip along the A4 from Reading to Maidenhead. I try to go out on longer rides at the weekends and would love to find new people to do this with

Hi,

Im Damian, an out of shape 27 year old lawyer from Stalybridge near Manchester. I was in reasonable shape up until last summer, working out 4-5 times a week.

Landed a new job with a longer commute which has left me too tired (lazy?) To hit the gym after work. Thought id get myself a bike to get my fitness levels up.

I road around on a clunky cheap bike for a couple of months and decided to get a Specialized Allez C2 2014 which I love!

I managed to ride from Congleton train station to Old Trafford Cricket Ground yesterday (26 miles) and im going to try to build up my fitness.

Hi every body,

My name is Simon, I am from Milton Keynes. I am currently training for my first half marathon and am using cycling as a cross training method. I have now got the cycling bug. I am currently riding an old but cared for Raliegh Yukon mountain bike, but I am now looking for something to chew a few more miles up. My furthest ride has been 60km which I completed yesterday, 6th August 2014. This turned out to be a very hard ride on the return leg heading into the wind, especially with knobbly tyres on my bike. I am hoping to get some good advice for purchasing a new bike and some tips about long distance rides. Look forward to hearing from you.

Hello all,

I am new here but not new to cycling.... After a 15 year layoff, I started looking in bike shop windows at all the shiny stuff and have decided that I need to cycle again!

I used to cycle southend county wheelers but stopped when I couldn't fit into my skin suit....

I have some questions about my vintage kit, mainly early 90's road and off road bikes which still work but need upgrading to make them useful. Thinking how much I spent on them originally I am loathe to consign them to the scrap heap.

Anyway enough about me.

Hi people... I'm new here. I, Kevin From reading. I'm a 33 year old guy whos been cycling for 20 years. I have a passion for cycling and road safety, I Cycle to work every day and try to do 50 miles a week on my bike for leisure. I have a 2014 Attention 29 MTB but I only use it on the road, the cannel path and to walk the dog. I never really thought about joining a cycle forum before because most cycle enthusiasts use road bikes and some road bikers don't like mounting bikers or so I thought. Looking at the posts on here I think I was wrong. I'm glad I found a decent cycling forum

Hello and hi to Shaun and everyone.

My name is Rick and I live in North Herts. I used to cycle and race, time trials, in my mid'ish teens about 50 years ago (wow, that long ago) and recently whilst in the Peak district I got the bug again.

After many hours on the internet and touring the local shops I think I have decided on a Specialized sport Cross trail disc. A local shop has the 2015 model in mat charcoal at £550 and there is a silver 2014 on the internet at £495.

Now my problem is I'm not sure about the mat charcoal colour and thinking more about the silver. The silver will not have the first free service, is that really important and necessary, and any warranty dealings could be problematic or is the mat charcoal the 'in cool' colour and I am concerning myself unnecessarily.

I would very much like your thoughts guy's.
