Hi everyone. My name is James, live in Cambridge (Cambridgeshire not Gloucestershire). Only really go out riding weekends on my Carrera Crossfire Hybrid. Bike does fine for me on 40 - 50 mile rides round Herts, Beds, Essex. Bike cost me £250 from Halfords so I know it's bottom end of range but suits me fine for now. May upgrade in a year or so. Like getting bike to Royston on train (easy with First Capital Connect, not so easy getting bike to Saffron Walden on Greater Anglia but will try soon). Like starting rides from Royston cos it gets some of the less interesting stuff around Cambridge out of the way and means I can go further afield. Looking for a good rucksack (Deuter Race EXPair? Deuter Speed Lite? or cheaper Karrimor Xlite?) Don't need a hydration system yet as I constantly stop and take photos of wherever I am riding. Any ideas most appreciated. By the way I hate panniers, sorry hence the rucksack request.

Hi and :welcome: to @hoovergroover, @jayfud, @kezren89 and everyone else who has joined recently. :hello:

Not sure about the rucksacks. Used them, don't like them for cycling, prefer panniers.;)

Hello everyone, just coasting in to say a quick "Hello", from an overcast (looks like rain) South Wales. Found this site a couple of days ago, liked what I saw, so I thought I sign up. Definitely a leisure cyclist, just enjoy being out there, looking around, exercise, fresh air, freedom; all of that. I don't go far but it's all good. Looking forward to getting to know you all.

Yep, it's raining...

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.

Hello,

So you've signed-up, got your user account, now all you need to do is get posting .... ah, um, er, What do I say?

Well, it's dead easy - just say Hello and tell us a little bit about yourself and whereabouts you're from (so we can invite you along to rides!!)

Believe me, once you get that first post under your belt you'll be off!

My name's Shaun by the way, and I own and operate CycleChat.

If you need any help or advice on using the forums, or want to ask a question but don't want to do it publicly - just send me a PM (private message).

Hope you enjoy, and welcome to CycleChat

Cheers,
Shaun

Hi and :welcome: @nolegs

@kezren89 - internet purchase or via a bike shop? If bike shop they should re true that, if bought on line it might be worth getting a local bike shop to give it a look over & set up.

Morning all,

Gary here from Telford, Shropshire.

Me and the girlfriend are planning a charity ride from Edinburgh to London next summer.

We're pretty new to the whole biking thing, neither of us had done a ride of more than about 20 miles before so we'll be picking your collective brains for as much info as we can get!

See you on the road!

Gary
