Hello to all, my name is Jane and I run a woman friendly cycle shop based in Exmouth, Devon. Running both an online and in store location, we have been going since 2007. Me and my husband (sorry guys) love the cycle trade, love the fixing, the riding, the finding the next big things in cycling.

I have joined this forum not to sell the shop, but to be part of a great community who's shared interest is cycling and bikes. So hello all!

Hello from sunny (but cold) Buxton! :hello:

I'm originally from Stoke on Trent, and currently own a Charge Faucet Plus and a Cube Attempt and I'm looking forward to getting back in the saddle once I've shaken off this cough that I've had for 12 weeks

Hello, I've just hit 60 and am trying to up the pace with my fitness. I walk a lot, bellyboard (that's surfing on your belly, on a wooden board) most of the year and have been cycling on a Raleigh once a week, about 7 mile round trip. I've felt so much benefit from the cycling as where we are it's all up and down (mostly up!!) and yesterday I went to the neighbouring town and picked up a Trek 7.2 FX WSD. I rode it home up a very challenging (for me) route. Hubby came along for encouragement. The Trek was dead easy to ride and got me up a climb that I'd never have got up on the Raleigh and I was soooo stoked! I want more miles now!

But I'm going to have to get some proper cycling clothing because jeans just don't help the cause! LOL

Anyway, nice to meet you and I'm off now to read some pearls of wisdom that I've seen dropping off other threads.....

Hello,

So you've signed-up, got your user account, now all you need to do is get posting .... ah, um, er, What do I say?

Well, it's dead easy - just say Hello and tell us a little bit about yourself and whereabouts you're from (so we can invite you along to rides!!)

Believe me, once you get that first post under your belt you'll be off!

My name's Shaun by the way, and I own and operate CycleChat.

If you need any help or advice on using the forums, or want to ask a question but don't want to do it publicly - just send me a PM (private message).

Hope you enjoy, and welcome to CycleChat

Cheers,
Shaun
Hi Shaun et al.
I'm a retired social worker, 64 years old and a tinkerer. I've had a number of bikes in my life, all bar 1 have been hand me downs and rescued from the dump. The one new bike is my Dahon folder which I bought as a birthday present for myself in December 2012. Currently I am lusting after a steel framed, disc braked tourer on which I am hoping to cycle from Granada in the south of Spain to home here in Paisley, Scotland. I thought I had found the ideal bike but Edinburgh Cycle Co-op have just sold out of their country explorer and won't have 2014 stock until March but I'm in no hurry as my intention is to take on the major trip in 2015. meanwhile I'll be dawdling around Holland in July and doing the Loire valley in May with friends. I'll also be putting in some miles around Scotland in preparation for next year. I'll also be exploring the touring forum here to gain from other's experiences as part of my preparations re. gear and routes so expect further posts as time goes on.
Cheers
