Hi, I'm Sarah! I grew up on bikes, from baby basket thru all forms of kiddy seats thru 'rhan' (sp?) trailers to my own bikes. Since adulthood took over my bike use has been more sporadic though, depending on whether a cycle commute was possible - and since I stopped 6 months into my first pregnancy 3 years ago I haven't been back in the saddle - both my OH and cycle-enthusiast father were reluctant to let me put the baby on the back of a bicycle. Due our 2nd end of the month though, and arguing that a 2seater chariot or similar cd be a better investment than a double buggy, considering our daughter will be 3 in June and thus outgrow (theoretically) most buggies... Looking for assistance in choosing though!

Hello,
My real name is Kay and I live in Hertfordshire. I'm a married Mum of a 20 year old boy and an almost 18 year old girl. I work part time as a Teaching Assistant at a local private school and cycle between 80-110 miles most weeks. I cycle indoors when it's too horrid to get outside but I much prefer outside cycling and have cycled outside when I really shouldn't have.
My son introduced me to cycling almost 5 years ago as a means to help me lose weight after I'd joined Weight Watchers Online. With his help I selected a hard tail mountain bike from Halfords and started cycling with him as he was already a very keen cyclist.
The first ride he took me on was 8 miles over all sorts of terrain and almost killed me! But we laughed and laughed and he encouraged, read made me, go again and again and again until that frankly slight incline was no longer a problem.
As I cycled more I loved it more and now you'll have a hard time keeping me off my bike!
Incidentally I lost 90lbs, which is 41kgs or 6.5 stones and reduced my dress size from a UK 20 to 8-10.
My bike has changed dramatically as well. I still only have the one bike but by careful, and slow, replacement of parts my Halfords bike is now a Trek hybrid with Rock Shox and several carbon components, and I love her!

:hello: :hello: :hello: to @Nemodude , @Schottin and @K9 Block and :welcome: :welcome: :welcome: to CycleChat ! :wahhey: :wahhey: :wahhey:

Have a good mooch around the different sections and you'll soon get the hang of where to post. You all seem to come with loads of enthusiasm, experience, much less weight than [cough] many some people on here, so you'll be getting stick fit in really well !

One section to keep an eye on is the CC and Informal Rides, where people post up rides they are arranging to meet up with other CC folk, have a ride, have a chat and, of course, eat CAKE ! :hungry:

Ride Safe :bicycle: and enjoy CC !

Hello fellow cyclists

I decided to take up cycling again to build fitness, I haven't cycled since I was a kid. I bought a Triban 5A after reading allot from here.

I'm looking forward to building up the miles as I've done 4 and my legs were pretty useless at the end of that. I could barely stand. Makes me cry as a beginner that the area around me is quite hilly.

Hi all!

I'm just getting back into cycling after a LONG break, my last long ride was Sheffield- Skegness when I was 16 - I'm 37 now

Anyway I've got a bike, a carbon framed Sab road bike from Planet X, plus a set of tacx rollers and support bar so I can get a bit of practise in while the weather is rubbish. I will be pleasure riding with a mate for now but wouldn't mind doing a few sportives once my riding fitness is better!
