Hello,

So you've signed-up, got your user account, now all you need to do is get posting .... ah, um, er, What do I say?

Well, it's dead easy - just say Hello and tell us a little bit about yourself and whereabouts you're from (so we can invite you along to rides!!)

Believe me, once you get that first post under your belt you'll be off!

My name's Shaun by the way, and I own and operate CycleChat.

If you need any help or advice on using the forums, or want to ask a question but don't want to do it publicly - just send me a PM (private message).

Hope you enjoy, and welcome to CycleChat

Cheers,
Shaun

Hello I've just joined the forum after googling for info and support on the BKool turbo trainer I have and stumble across this forum. I posted yesterday and have already had some support and responses.
I'm generally a commuter cyclist, but do a bit of club riding and sportive/charity rides, on the two road and two mountain bikes I have, but am looking to sharpen my fitness on the turbo trainer, especially as the winter months will discourage me from riding outdoors.

Hi everyone and hope you all had a merry Xmas.

For a while now I've been trying to take up cycling regularly again. I used to cycle regularly until until about 20 years ago and then a change of job and having a young family curtailed my cycling. The kids are now in their late teens.

So, I've taken my old mountain bike that I have been using occasionally over their last 12 months, got it serviced, swapped the chunky tyres for road tyres and started cycling around my home town again. Can't believe the difference a change of tyres has made.

Well done, just enjoy it. Tyres do make a huge difference, especially when they have plenty of pressure in them.
Also make sure you saddle is adjusted high enough, another small adjustment to make sure the power you put through your legs, gets to the road.
Finally consider clip in pedals if you don't already have them.
Good luck

Hi everyone. I've just started to take cycling seriously, and bought my first half decent road bike along with the majority of the gear. I'm really looking forward to getting fit and actually DOING something with my bike. Although I enjoy cycling to work etc, what I am really wanting to do is train for some really decent long distance adventures. I live in the UK and I would like to cycle to the south of France one day, and maybe even Italy. There's a good cycling club near me and I will be going out for rides with them, learning how to cycle properly etc, and I really hope I can learn a lot from this site as well. I have no misconceptions about how difficult what I am considering is, but I feel like I'm at the point in my life when I feel that if I don't start this now, I probably never will.

Anyway, I look forward to learning as much as I can here, and would like to say a big hello to you all.

Cheers!

welcome, and joining a club is a good move. if the club is anything like mine you'll learn plenty about riding, maintenance and, who knows, maybe pick up an n+1 or two for little dollar

Hi Guys and Girls

My names Keith and I'm currently 49.

I bought a Carrera Centos from Halfords back in June 2012, but only did about 50 miles on it until November just gone. I am now doing about 70 miles a week in a bid to get fit and lose some weight. Since I have started cycling regularly I find I am buying lots of different accessories which I never realised I needed and wonder when it will ever stop. Even now I am looking at more expensive bikes, but to get a reality check I don't think I could justify this at the moment. I ran regularly up until a couple of years ago when I discovered I had arthritis in my knee and had to take up a non impact sport to keep fit. At first I hated cycling compared to running but now I am loving it and am embracing all manner of cycling websites and Youtube videos etc in a bid to become a fitter person.

Well that's it from me for now, off to clean my bike.
