Hi Im Ben and work at sportivo events and busy planning our next sportive in Weymouth Dorset. Im a keen cyclist who adores everything bikes!

:welcome: Ben check out the thread about Sportives being out of control, would be good if you could take on board some of the comments when you are planning these events. I do ride in them but i also live in an area that suffers with quite a few too.

Enjoy the ride

Hello,

I am new to cycling, I have had a bike for about 10 years, but haven't ridden regularly..

A friend and I was walking daily and he kept asking if I have ever considered biking. I said I have been thinking about, but I first have to get a bike rack. I kept on thinking about and I finally bought a bike rack the first week of October. We rode a couple of days before my trip to South Africa and sorta got hooked. Before leaving for South Africa I book a Table Mountain Bike tour. I thought I could do that, it sounded fun. Well off to South Africa, then the day came for the Bike Tour came. I thought that is was just riding around on the mountains roads. That is how the internet made the tour sound. Man, was I wrong! It was down the gravel trails with rocks down the mountain. I just prayed to God that I would make it safely to the bottom, and I would never do that again if he let me live. Well I made it, some riding down, walking down with some. Well made it to the bottom of the mountain. I was relieved. It was fun riding the bikes back to the central bike tour office going down hills on the street. I felt like I was back in my childhood.

Well, now I ride the 'Greenline' daily in Memhis Tennessee which is an old discountinued rail line. They only have about 6.7 miles completed, so a round trip is about 14 miles. The link is http://www.traillink.com/trail/shelby-farms-greenline.aspx

I feel guility when I do not go for a bike ride. If I can't ride in the morning, I will go for an afternoon ride,

I love the cycling app for my Iphone called MapMyBikeRide and the link is http://www.mapmyride.com/

I have signed up for the second annual 'Cranksgiving' fun ride.

Happy Cycling....RIchard

So now you can say that I am hooked on ridding.

Hi all, new to the forum, I commute around 8 miles each way into Glasgow every working day, rain or shine (storm force gales and black ice do worry me though, but I haven't missed a day in18 months). I'm enjoying the discussions about lights, overshoes and courteous drivers. Hope the rain stays off for this evening's late shift commute!

Hello, I enjoy riding my bike but unfortunately I've got to sell it. It's a 1978 Raleigh Grifter and it's on ebay. I'm hoping that I'll be getting a replacement soon but thought I'd come on here to let people know about it. It's in really decent original condition and I'm gutted that I've got to get rid of it. I live in London and often go cycling across Epping Forest. I've also got a BMX (not ridden for a while) and an old 90's Mountain Bike (more practical).

hi all ,
new at this forum thingy! was wondering if you guys could sort me out with some info?? am currently riding my first hybrid/road bike ( month or so), had many mountain bikes in the past, have always been over weight (19st) but love being outdoors, i must say im loving the road/hybrid bike better! i do small rides (15-20k) 3-4 times a week but try to push myself at least once a week (farthest ive done is 48k) could anyone suggest where the best place would be to buy a high viz cycling jacket to fit? ive looked on ebay, amazon etc but i am unsure of the sizes on offer ,im currently a 3xl, also any hints and tips you could give me on road cycling would be greatly appreciated. thanks
tony
