Hello All,

I'm doing this in slightly the wrong order as my first post was ages ago - sorry chaps and chappesses! One of your helpful members gave me some info some time ago when I was looking into bringing my very fetching Pink & White with mottled Purple blotches Dynatech 700 kicking and screaming into this century.

I live just north of Blackburn, and over the course of the last 12 months or so, have been making gradually longer trips into the Bowland wilderness. I usually manage to get out a couple of times a week, and tend to do at least 30-40 miles each time, but as my speed and stamina improve I'm aiming to extend this to covering at least 100 miles most weeks. Chores, children and playing-out passes allowing.;)

In the end, the bike remained firmly old school, complete with ridiculously optimistic 53/39 chainrings, and down-tube shifters, but I did manage to track down a 13-24 freewheel which makes things just a little bit easier for my puny legs.

I have now spotted an advert for a touring bike on the forum, which could be just the job to haul my most recent eBay purchase of an Islabike trailer - ad says 53cm, but it looks bigger... But it looks like I need to hijack a few of you good people's threads before I can make enquiries in the For Sale section, hence this intro to begin with. If any of you happen to know my target number of posts, please let me know. Equally welcome would be one of the Mods taking pity on me and uprating my permissions - I come in peace, honestly.

All the best,

Richard

Hi everybody

Just joined and this is my first post my names Dave and after riding a mountain bike for a while is now getting into road riding. Just about to get a red triban 3 and is looking forward to getting some miles on it once I've recovered from having surgery on my left knee.

Still consider myself a beginner and will probably be on here a lot asking daft questions and seeking advice.

Cheers

Dave

Hi Everyone

I am Ian from Manchester. Bought my first bike since I was 8, (thats 32 years ago), almost six months ago.

Currently cycle with my wife once a week, covering a 10 mile stretch of the Trans Pennine Trail. At first it took us 2.5 hours and 3 days to recover, now we get it done in just over an hour.

We decided to start cycling to lose weight and enjoy the freedom. We didn't realise that within a 5 minute bike ride we could be in countryside!

Currently weigh 18st 7lb, thats almost 2 stone less than when I first started cycling, so something is working. I am hoping to cycle the whole TPT sometime next Summer, so will be looking for help and advice, hope you don't mind.

My bike is a Rockrider BigRR 29er.

Hello all
Don't know how I've managed to not find this site before. I live in Norfolk (not as flat as legend would have it!), ride a variety of bikes, including a tourer, singlespeed and a recumbent. Also get myself a bit involved in campaigning issues. Good to meet you!

Hello, I'm Cam, I live in the fens north of Cambridge.
Most of my cycling is the daily commute which involves on and off road biking and totals about 90 miles a week
Recently bought a mystery bike off eBay and I'm trying to trace its origins, which is what bought me here. I've seen a similar bike on the forum so I'm off to ask questions about it...
