Hi,

I've been cycling for a few years now getting more into it on a daily bases, been lurking on this sight for a while now and thought it was time to get more involved and start annoying all you more experienced guys with a load of questions.

Well Hello Matie Peeps!!
I'm back from my holliday in magnificent Menorca!! Rested, sun kissed and eager to get into planning and preparing for The Epic 'Dash before I snuffit' Pub Crawl in April.
Whilst in Menorca I was really shocked = pleasantly so, of the amount of peeps I saw on mountain bikes, travelling part of the Cami De Cavalls .... all on the bikes - beautiful machines!! - had what appeared to be onezies on, with stunning muscels and bottoms!! ... um... I couldn't look too closely; hubby suddenly started talkin about get his ' penny farthing ' out, Ha !! :hyper: if u know what I mean.
Of all the times not to take your camera on holiday with U or not have yr foldup :bicycle:with you!!

Hello everyone,

My name is Wayne (Puntsdog - long story) and I have been converted by my good wife who has frequented these parts for a few months now. Conceding the battle and admitting she has been correct all along and that I would love cycling once I got into it has been the toughest part of my journey to date - more difficult even that the looming spectre of lycra!
Anyway, my bike has been ordered (I had to steal hers to see if I'd enjoy myself enough) and should be with me for next week sometime and I cannot wait. My goals are a touch of weight loss, an improvement in general fitness and mostly a great sense of overall achievement when I complete my first 100 miler! Okay, we will see about the last comment in a year or so.
Outside of cycling I have interests all over the place from target shooting to Scuba diving taking in watch collection some way inbetween.
I've done a little of the lurking thing over the last few weeks and like what I see and read. Forum membership in general is a great resource for information, support and expertise and I look forward to taking part.

Cheers
Wayne

Hey. Just joined!

My name's Mike and I'm just about to buy my first (edit: quality!) bike. At first I was going to go for a hybrid then realized what appeals to me most is having something comfortable for long distances. If I'm going short distance, I can ride just about anything right? Even my cheap 'real' bike from halfords...(it creaks a lot, can anyone explain that?)

Anyway I've looked at all kinds of bike and am now onto tourers. I'm here to see if anyone has a second hand tourer between 250-450 pounds before I attempt to buy one brand new which seems to cost in excess of that, 500-600 for a good one it seems?

I have travelled a fair bit in my time but am becoming more and more eco conscious, I want to bike more as I don't get much excercise and don't drive so want more freedom.

If anyone has a bike for sale and can recommend one, please hit me up. I'm in West sussex, sometimes London... and in the future, maybe Northern Ireland.

So hello, and thanks in advance :-)

Hi there, just signed up to the forum as Id seen some great posts and threads on here after googling a couple of things.

I cycle every day on my commute to work which involves a train and 10 miles each way.....I have a roadie and a folder and alternate between the two......I get out for the odd ride with mates on the roadie at the weekends too.

Hoping to get a bit more knowledge on bike mechanics as Id love to mod both bikes but am a bit of a newbie at that kind of thing!

Cheers, Jim

Hi everybody

Just joined and this is my first post my names Dave and after riding a mountain bike for a while is now getting into road riding. Just about to get a red triban 3 and is looking forward to getting some miles on it once I've recovered from having surgery on my left knee.

Still consider myself a beginner and will probably be on here a lot asking daft questions and seeking advice.

Cheers

Dave

welsh dragon

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
Hi dave

Welcome to the forum. Hope you enjoy your new bike, and ask as many questions as you like.

Fair weathered, fair minded but easily persuaded.
:welcome: as @welsh dragon says ask away, no question too daft and hunt round on the forum first as there's loads of info on here. A great first thread is the Newbie progress thread, they are all really supportive and @Nigelnaturist is a mine of information for all sorts of cycling related stuff.

Enjoy the ride, forget time, forget distance, see what's round the next corner and enjoy it all.
